Gosh, what a lot of fuss over nowt, I thought the Montego was reasonably priced regardless of what was paid for it so good luck. I too have a traders policy as with 22 cars it just makes perfect financial sense, I sell a few to gain a few, mostly to save them from the crusher and mostly sold at a loss. At the end of the day Vickytlc making £200 on the Montego is hardly paying for his fuel so give him a break, let's be grateful that it made it onto this forum as it might've been lost to someone who doesn't appreciate old motors!

GOLDEN RULE OF BUYING A CAR!
don't worry about, or even think about how much the previous owner bought it for, or how much of a "drink" they're making out of it. The only figure you should be bothered about is how much its for sale for NOW and wether its a good price or not.
Ive bought and sold stacks of old cars and many of them I bought from a mate who had just bought them themselves and were turning a quick profit. Sure they were making a drink out of a mate but business is business.
Oh yeah, fill in the traders part of the V5C and you wont show as a keeper on the logbook when you sell it on. (I believe)

Time to let this drop now perhaps? For my money I say if you don't like what he's doing don't buy anything off him. For the record I have found Vic to be a thoroughly pleasant, decent and affable chap.

I think Vickytlc has taken my posts out of context....not sure why. I didn't say he was doing anything wrong or that I wouldn't buy a car off him....just that he seems to have rubbed a few people up the wrong way. My other questions were just that..questions.
I couldn't give a monkeys if he makes a few quid......we all would like too. I bought a car off here that I knew cost the seller less than I was paying....at the end of the day I thought I was getting a good deal at the price he wanted.
Two things I've learnt today....
Although I still (IMHO) don't think it's in the spirit of the site to flog something you don't have and is still on another site...but thats my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

Just to clarify I'm not Toilet & Douche, but there is no set limit on how many cars you can buy and sell in a year. It comes down to the history of transactions and intentions at point of purchase. If your intention at point of purchase is to sell the car on and a quick profit you should declare the income as taxable. If it can be proven you have a history of buying and selling its taxable. Ref BIM20080 - Trade: general: investigative approach .....and the vat registration limit is 67K turnover from 01.04.08. I'll get my anorak......

is the first post of this thread missing? I'm lost whats going on? Basically; 1. Vickytlc lists a Mongtego estate for £400, people are interested. 2. Someone find out that the car was actually for sale on Car and Classic for £200. 3. Folks get stroppy at vickytlc at trying to make a fast buck out of RR, so he gets stroppy in return and 'pulls' the ad (hence missing first post). 4. During the continuing argument, its discovered that the car is STILL for sale by original owner, and vickytlc hasn't even purchased it yet. 5. Vickytlc insists that the deal has been done and is picking it up imminently. 6. rowleyclassics saw the Car and Classic ad and liked the car so much, he contacted the original owner and purchased it, thus dismissing Vickytlc's claim that the deal was already done. Film synopsis never was my strong point!

Lol, thats quite funny.
I have no problem at all with people making money from car sales, as long as the buyer is happy with what they pay, then who cares...
What I do have a SERIOUS problem with is someone advertising a car for sale that they have not even laid eyes on. Doesnt matter what the previous owner says about it, there is NO way to verify any details without seeing the car. The original ad is gone now so I don't know what it said, but unless it was along the lines of... "for sale....xxxxxx car, I have not seen this car myself and have only the previous owers word on its condition" Anything else is not being honest. Infact any claims of its condition are COMPLETELY dishonest, as the seller has NO IDEA if its true or not.

I don't have a big problem with what Vic's done (or was going to do) as long as he was honest when he'd collected the car and amended the advert to incoperate any faults he might have found. Obviously we don't know if he would have done so (though I'm sure he would) so it's all subjective really. Anyway it's gone to another home, the buyer seems happy and it's done with. Time to let this drop now?
