I see alot of meets coming up on the board all over England but is there ever any Scottish meets? There seems to be plenty of Scotch members but i never see any meets up here. I could of course be completely wrong.

I used to arrange club meets in Scotland for another forum I use, and there are huge problems with arranging stuff in Scotland. Generally, people are too thinly spread over too wide an area, so people end up having to travel 100+ miles each way for a meet, which most folk are unwilling to do on a regular basis. A few members from aberdeenshire (myself included) a few from further north, a few from edinburgh / glasgow, a few from fife, a few from the west coast etc etc....it was a logistical nightmare trying to find a venue fairly central that minimised peoples traveling distances. My best meets ended up being on days like Knockhill trackdays or Crail run what you brung days, were people would be willing to go there anyway, and there was other stuff to see, rather than just travel al that way to stand in a pub carpark for an hour then go home again!

I guess we're not quite as packed in as we are down south. Having a meet around an existing even does make sense. When I got to the local classic shows I always keep an eye out for cars from the board but I've yet to see any.

Alot of the clubs have meets in perth because its central, but why couldent we set up some district meets?? One in livingstone for glasgow/ edinburgh area. One in perth for perth/dundee area. One in aberdeen for the grampain area. One in inverness. Could have them in order of listing... last monday of the month, last tueday of the month etc so people could also travel to other meets if wanted as well as there local one?

I suspect I'd be the only one involved in the Inverness meet!

I'd be up for coming along to one of those, but Aberdeen for the Grampian area? Nahhhh. Ballater or Braemar maybe - a picturesque setting always helps the atmosphere.

milford- Theres bound to be more folk than you in a reasonable distnce wanting to go to a inverness meet. misteralz, just said grampian for easyness, rather than saying stonehaven, banchory, peterheed etc. Yeah braemar/ballater would be good, but for a RR camping event!! BBQ, beer and car talk all night one weekend and then a good rip threw the hills the next day???

Somewhere around Perth/Falkirk wouldn't be bad as it's kind of between Glasgow and Edinburgh and not unmanageably Far from Fife and the Borders. I don't want them to be too far away as I suspect my new retro (i get it on Saturday) will probably only do about 15mpg.
