heres my joint project with my girlfriend,its a mk1 golf (it woz at the south west motor show) dropped 120mm and goin fully retro with loadsa chrome etc its bein resprayed soon so keep an eye out for it in torquay! ps her all car woz spotted ages ago its the matt black polo on page 15 cheers

You keeping it blue with the chrome? "Retro chrome" is what I was aiming for (inspired by the OTT hubcaps), can't afford the scene tax on the small chrome bumpers though I refuse to buy parts that cost more than the car!

yeah anything mk1 and chrome is a rip off. i had my heart set on the chrome bumpers til i realised the price. iv been keeping a sneaky eye out on german ebay though. some bargains to be had!

you can get repro metal bumpers in the Deutschland, get onto VOLKSWARENHAUS.DE or if you wait until after 3pm, i will look thru VW Scene i have in the car as my lunchrime read

They're still £500 from there! That's insanely stupid money.
Sausage bay can be cheaper but paying for stuff can be a hassle as not many of them take paypal. They prefer bank transfers but unfortunatley UK banks want to charge an extra £25 to transfer to a German one. Still some bargains to be had there as you say.

ah wow, was it a plymouth car? thats where I got this. mines an 1100 as well. its a little beaut! no idea where it came from originally but i got it from an unwashed hippy in bude was a nice modern car (compared to my current car which was a 1979 mk1) but unfortunately had rust problems which caused the drivers door to fall off

oh dear. thats not good. luckily mines got no rust on it, apart from the passenger side rear quarter where the trim clips go in, but iv treated them and the cars in for respray soon. oh and a bit on the rear arch, nothing major though luckily!

I love mine to bits but that £250 quid more than I paid for the whole car! yeah indeed, my car was only a few hundred too, though in its makeover, a neighbour said i could have bought a new one with the amount i spent on it ( he obviously doesnt realise how much a new one costs ) anyway, a boring 5 door silver Golf4 could be bought for what i paid so far, but i still wouldnt wax 700+ sheets on a set of currently fashionable bumpers
