Been a busy few days... I was really really sad to have to sell the Prisma, but had convinced myself that in these times of crazed petrol pricing I really couldn't afford to be hooning around in a twink that just ached to be thrashed at every single second of every single journey. The Prisma was a blast on country lanes but I'd decided to sell it, and the spares car and get a Cinquecento (had even got so far as to locate a good one up in Dundee and was checking train timetables...). The combination of fun Italian handling, thrift and cheekiness seemed like a good compromise... But then I got to looking sadly at my Lancia, and it's worth mentioning that I've been a follower of the marque since I was about 8... I decided to have a poke around eGay and find out if anyone was looking to sell a tidy Y10, perhaps even a GTie or GT but at least a F.I.R.E. engined model (but heavens forbid not a white Fila... ). Then I found it... thrifty? good for short journeys? Economical? OK then... small and utilitarian??? sparse but sporty? Damn! So... here's hoping for a decrease in unleaded prices and a Halfrauds sale, I've got a 2.0 twin-cam to feed and a black paint-job to rub Auto Glym into ;D Viva Lancia!

I like your style.
Its like I say, why bother driving and paying for the petrol if you're not enjoying burning it?

Always liked Lancia's as they are something a bit unusual. I prefer the Thema, and the Delta HF turbo, but tried to buy a Y10 GTie from a relative many years ago, but it wasn't for sale.

Sporty and fuel efficient, nice! Very good looking car, wasn't this the one that shared platform with the Alfa 164 and Saab 9000?

MattW... think that was the Thema / Alfa 166 / Fiat Croma / Saab 9000 you're thinking of, the Dedra shares its floorpan with the Fiat Tempra... generally speaking Dedra is not the most highly prized Lancia and they're a bit numb compared to a Delta or a Prisma but they're bloody comfy. And, all things being relative... a slightly numb Lancia or Fiat is still quite an entertaining drive, with enough pep to frighten hot hatches, that lovely twin-cam engine has a character that even the 1980's/90's Fiat middle management couldn't kill. Knocked off early today and did some work on it... mostly cleaning from nose to tail inside and out, put some fresh plates on it and a new tax disc holder, finished plumbing my stereo in, waxed in some chips and scratches with a black chipstick and swapped plugs, filters and fluids. Also did my "every nut" check on the drivetrain and running gear... wouldn't be the first car I've acquired that was finger tight The previous owner is known in the LMC though and he's very thorough, so no massive concerns and all in all I'm happy with the little blighter, who is now all tucked up in the newly cleaned-out garage

From this... To this... And from this... To this... There was nothing wrong with the old plates, I just prefer the clean look of ones without writing other than the licence number (I view the old ones as part of the story and history of the car so they are cleaned and safely stashed), and the tax disc holder was a real turn up as it was a LMC one in the glove box :-) Whilst I was in the glove box I also refitted the bulb and lens into the light in there and made a note of a couple of bulbs elsewhere in the interior that need replacement (window switches, heater rotaries and dash bulb near the oil pressure gauge). The idle is now set along with the mixture and cold starting seems fine, although not sure whether that's my adjustment of the FI or the new plugs that I popped in.

Nice work, very rare, imposing and smart-looking machine! Fook the petrol prices. I'd have boshed some '80s/'90s font numberplates on it though. Any joy selling the Prismas?

Yep, the Prismas were taken by a guy from Barnsley who has had a few Lancias before, I've passed on details of the thread on here to him and am hoping he'll keep it up The plates are plain Halfords jobs (although I don't think a right lot to their sticky pads... meh), they're nice and plain and were no hassle to buy and won't get me pulled. Trying to think what you mean by 80's / 90's ones, you mean with the fatter lettering? Thanks for the kind words, I'm really liking the car and having given it a good buff with Auto Glym yesterday and put it in the garage it smells absolutely lovely in there, all hot and polishy... keep finding "reasons" to go in the garage and breathe. The cats are quite huffy with me as they're now barred from sleeping in there because of met' black paint. They used to love sleeping on the back seat of the spares Prisma which was in there and in a perfect spot for catching the rays through the window

Lovely Lancia! Looks like a really nice car indeed. The new plates look a lot cleaner. Does it say "Debra the Dedra" on the bottom of the old plate? I can't quite make it out.

bit of a "meh" tonight... decided to crack on and sort out the non-functioning bulbs in the dash and console... result: admit I got a bit sidetracked by trying to work out why the hot/cold adjuster on the heater was stuck on hot... whatever it is is at the other end of a blue cable behind the glovebox... I fear seized valve so off for some capless bulbs tomorrow, 7 of... and then will put it all back together and bask in the lovely glow of the dash. didn't rush it either as it was almost midnight when I started, so no casualties in terms of scratched, broken or scuffed bits. garage roof is leaking again... curse word!

Lovely car. Reminds me of a G Reg Thema i owned in the Mid-90's. Lovely car to drive with quality suede seats...until my missus kinda ruined them when her waters broke on transit to the hospital with our 1st kid. Suede was never quite right after that. But yea, nice car and good choice ;D

Lovely car, I had a black 1.8 8 years ago, I worked for a Fiat dealer at the time, My car was 1st reg'd in October 92 but had build date of Sept 1990...slow sellers or what, the spec was miles better than my brother's 92 Merc 190 1.8.
