I'm looking for a simple, old looking black one which will fit in with the interior of my 944. Basically one without the flashing colours and manky chrome bits all the new ones have. Simpler and squarer = better!
If anyone's got a single DIN size equaliser to go underneath then I quite fancy one of those too.

If you want something decent, have a look on ebay for Nakamichi CD35z, cd40z, and cd45z.
Fantastic sounding units, and look proper discrete.

Those are exactly what I'm after looks wise, discreet and OEM looking. Price wise I was thinking more like £50 so those are a bit outside my price bracket I'm afraid. |

Although until yesterday I'd not have recognised the name  I'm thinking a CD changer and tape headunit might be an easier/more old looking option, anyone got one of those they want rid of? |

Keep your eye on ebay for any CD35z - slightly lower spec than the 40 and 45, and I've seen them go for £50-£70.  The cheaper the headunit, generally the more garish nowadays.  Search for Clarion on ebay, some of the older ones of those sounded ace and were quite discrete. |
