Cheers Seth... Did MGFs not come with Steels at any point? 15" Steels would be smart.. Montego or Maestro rims in steel. You will need spacers as they are 35mm offset and Marinas are 13mm - AFAIK Ben over on fastmarina is doing these. MGF alloys will go on with spacers. There is a geezer in Gt Yarmouth who has a K reg 1.3 Marina running polished 17" 5-spokes and it looks better than it sounds. One day I'll manage to get a photo of it...

I'm really tempted... I would want to do it so I could revert back to the current setup if it all goes horribly wrong! The only thing that I would need to change would be the exhaust... hmmm.... What I need to do (as far as I know, please someone correct/educate me!) - High pressure fuel pump - Fuel Return - Regulator / feed to plenum - Oil feed to turbo (this can be banjo'd from the oil pump I believe) Probably some other stuff I forgot... Looking at fitting MegaJolt ignition too... Not big plans by any means but currently busy with 2 sproglets so it ay take some time Any advice appreciated Rob

just stumbled on your thread ,used to have a coupe years ago but mine wasnt as mint as yours ,(it fell to pieces lol)I love the coupe shape . Have you got the metro cylinder head cause i may be wrong but I'm sure the valves are different and cam maybe a different lift or shorter duration and it will probably the block would have had forged pistons etc ,or are you just going to use very low boost and see if it works before going any further ...... .....or a bag a 2 litre montego turbo lump and chuck that in and have some real fun:) i maybe wrong but i could ask a mate of mine that used to turbo minis hes not a green as me when it comes to austin rover /BL I'm more clued with ford turbos ive built stacks ...anyway keep up the good work!!!!!

All good here I was indeed thinking of trying to set it up and running with minimal boost, just to see if it's feasible. if it is - I'll start to bother the sprite boys about cams and stuff (I assume Mini stuff won't work !?) The heads themselves are the same IIRC (the marina has an extra water-way I believe)... I'll be using stronger valve springs and looking to get the head gas flowed etc as I'll be taking the head off and adding another head gasket or shim. I've read up a little... need more info though so anyone who's an expert on these feel free to come round and do all the work help me out Cheers Rob

Hi Rob, No way! I saw this car at, ahh, must have been one of the RR shows years ago, was loving it, a lot!! glad you got her back! Cool idea about the turbo aswell! I'm not up on what you should be using cams and whatnot, but all the Mini stuff should do just dandy Also, you mentioned using 15" steels, Montego rims were volunteered, but they're 14", not 15", that said, I actually think they'd look quite good! then again, the slots look so 70s cool it hurts! ;D

Looking sweet! slots rule, but a vote of J wheels if you feel like swapping. nothing like a break to appreciate an old car/bike etc etc

I also think all the mini stuff should work, a metro turbo fuel pump and pressure regulator would do the job. As for ignition, megajolt is great and has been used successfully on turbo A series, other peoples ignition maps are easily available, or just use a dizzy and ignition from a metro turbo. As for ignition, megajolt is great and has been used successfully on turbo A series, other peoples ignition maps are easily available. Yeah, looks like cheap way to mapped ignition. If you're patient you can get set up for around £100. I've introduced myself ojn TurboMinis... just making sure they don't mind a bit of RWD action... very friendly actually.

Hello all... a bit of a lame update but it took me ages to find this thread in the archives. The car has finally been taken off the road and is in my garage undergoing work. To be replaced: Front suspension, rear suspension, engine.The engine has gone. The engine bay is being stripped of everything to make way for new suspension. Photo update soon... sorry for the half assed update! See you all soon...

How come you're using a Viva front clip? I know they were once popular, but they're not that great, difficult to lower and brake upgrades aren't cheap or easy? Would it not be easier to use an MX5 front clip or similar?
