Had this tax exempt truck a few months, bought off ebay, this is how she looked when we bought her
The pic doesn't give a true idea of her size, the bed is 12ft (in front of the winch) and the wheelbase is over 8ft! She has a cologne V6 (which is gonna have to go in favour of a DI) and an OD 4 speed. Other niceties are 3 Durite fuse boxes and coil overs up front, though she's still on the beam axle, not IFS
Pulls like a train and stops well, already has halogens and is pretty sound. the chassis is better than some of our Mk2s, but there is some serious parts swapping going on over her life.
The steering box/shaft, steering cowling, ignition lock, steering wheel and column switches are all transit Mk2. The steering wheel is a bit near for that, but you get used to it. I need to get some big springs for the back......
the paint is seriously bad! The seller admitted he had hand painted it with household satin paint, don't even know if it's exterior quality!
the good news is it's not hiding lots of rust, the wings are all steel (not filler!).
Took advantage of the good weather recently, and fitted these door mirrors -
I have only had them for about 25 years , bought them to fit to our first Mk1, then found out the arms were ally so we couldn't chrome them, so had the arms copied. I think they came off a VW LT or a Merc, the heads are modern generic though as the originals were both cracked. They are black plastic, so I painted them hammerite. I think they suit the truck, and we can use the Mk2 head elsewhere
The beacon works!
Here they are from the front -
Took advantage of last week's good weather and did a bit to the cab.

Then would you effing believe it! Some b'stard has scratched my lovely dulux finish! I can't believe what low standards the vandals have round here. No big deal cos she will be getting resprayed eventually.
