No, no, no. not a device to tell you when your gran's on the blob...
I am after some auxilery gauges which look just like they came from the decade of red braces and matching glasses.
I need:
oil pressure water temperature
and maybe oil temp too. Depends on how wild I feel.
Now, these need to be black faced and I'm after electonic guages 'cos I don't much like running capilaries everywhere. I've had an oil one leak and its not much fun.
I'd also prefer half sweep type faces.
I'd probably want to buy new (unless anyone has anything to offer me or a link to something on eBay) and I'd want to beable to buy the correct senders easy or have them included with the gauges.
So...
What can you suggest...

Get on the autometer site, they are reliable and accurate, they do everything from vintage style right up to colour changing digital rubbish and were around in the 80's i had a full set in a couple of cars. www.autometer.com/cat_gaugeseries.aspx

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

I was going to say "not Autometer and not VDO Cockpit Classics and not any of the Smiths ones". Been there done that. The Autometer ones are all too "drag racer" or "ricer" or are carry overs of 60s/70s designs. As are the Moon equip ones, Sun Pro and the like.
Where would I get a set of the Audi VDO ones, IE what donor car, and what senders would I need for them and do you have a picture?
I was really after somethign thats got some kind of red detail like off TRON or something LOL.
I'm kinda thinking TIM ones look sort of what I'm after but not fancy enough and they are apparently a wee bit roobash.

An incredibly good deal on eGay!I'm fitting a set in my Golf just'now, they're backlit in red so match my home-modified switches perfectly. I got mine from an 80 or 90 Sport from the scrappies and paid a scene-tax exempt £5. Got the sender, too. The last set I got were from a different scrappies, I paid £15, forgot to get the sender so stuck them on eBay and made forty quid. ;D *Edited to include the eGay picture.

nice find ta. Want a water temp gauge included though rather than the volt meter jobbie otherwise that would be ideal.

Audi VDO gauges: Above are the later ones, there is a slightly older version that don't look as nice IMO. Pretty easy to find, usually go for £30-40, bit more with senders. Breakers sometimes don't realise how popular they are and you get a £20 bargain. The senders are easily available, the temp senders aren't expensive but the pressure ones can cost a bit. EDIT: Beaten to it by Misteralz... but see below for matching coolant gauge, and 'senders' page for scary sender prices! www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/INSTRUMENTS-VDO-Cockpit-Vision-Gauges/c1_2_3/index.html?osCsid=b81e2df64cdc777851845817a174d30fEDIT II: I have VDO 'wiring in' instructions in PDF on my HDD somewhere (not saying that you will need them of course)

I'm not sure if those VDOs are maybe a bit too "tasteful".
Anything 80s glitzy about? I have some nice SW's but they are a little earlier style than I think I want. Also I can't remember which two I have (volt and oil I think) and not a matching temp.
