Right, I've just won a megasquirt kit off ebay, I think it comes to just over £100 in our money including the stim, which i didnt think was too bad. All I need now is a nice zetec engine and some nice big throttle bodies. Anyone on here had any experience with assembling megasquirts? Any tips will be greatly apprieciated ;D.

Is that the original one without ignition mapping?

It's version 2.2 i belive. It doesnt have ignition mapping but you can get megasquirt 'n spark firmware upgrade to take care of that. I don't think the new one (megasquirt 2) is out for a couple of months yet.

I'm halfway through assembling mine (without the safety of a Stim! ;D). Pretty easy really (I'm saying that.... haven't tested it or anything yet!). The instructions are idiot-proof - I bought a soldering hobby-kit for a couple of quid from Maplin to get my soldering practice in. Took me a while to source all the sensors and stuff but with a bit of research you can get hold of most stuff from the scrappy.

Short for stimulator, it's basically a little battery-powered circuit that you can use to test each stage of the build - it imitates the signals that would be sent by the various sensors to the Megasquirt unit. Foolishly I forgot to order mine from the US so I'm having to build it and hope it works . There isn't much that can go wrong as long as all the components are in the right way round and they're all soldered OK... (famous last words eh?!)
