now we can all get on with our project cars instead of pestering you for updates. watch the combined productivity of rr increase massively followed by people complaining about the lack of skills/spares/tools they posses
thank SOC, looking forward to the next one!

Fantastic build, with a brilliant thread to inspire others - Legend.
Sad it's over, but glad it's finished.

this thread should go into the useful threads archive under, best build thread ever! pretty much gonna be the RR car of the year i think, VERY difficult to top the amount of work, skill, effort and thought gone into this one. congratulations on building an epic motor, may the next project bring more random good-ness.

Excellent speech! And you didn't weep like Paltrow. Well, as far as we could tell...
Watching you skilled folk cobble together these marvellous machines is what keeps me at this place really. Well, that and the friendly banter and cool cars but the real magic is seeing a pile of scrap (or a very tidy van eh Dave?) turn into something quite remarkable.

I'm in awe. One of the best threads on the internet, a marathon to read but a real inspiration. Well done.

I've just spent several hours reading this thread... I went from thinking "What a shame that Austin is too rotten to save" to being absolutely amazed at what must be the coolest rod I have ever seen built.
That car is nothing short of mindblowing. I mean, if I had a dollar for every T-Bucket, 34 Ford, etc... but this is just incredible and original!

Cheers Ian! ;D Andy, all good things must come to an end. I really enjoyed all your installments and still can´t believe that you only started it on the 28th April, respect for all those night shifts! Was a pleasure meeting you and your family at RR08 and i´m looking forward to your next project. ;D Dave

it's been a pleasure watching (and in a small way, participating in) the build process, the discussions and testing, and of course the soundtrack for the whole project.
some people ask do you remember where were you when Kennedy died?, in future they will ask; Do you remember where you were when scary built that rod?
;D

Scary, you, this car, the impact it's had...you make me proud to be a "car bloke".
People in our little circle will never stop talking about this, it's epic on every greasy, cold and skinned knuckled level.

hmmm I just went though this whole build, and what can I say, it was an amazing turnaround. 110 days to do that? It was a wreak and people were doubting if it was even worth building? But you did it anyways, and cranked out this beauty. It's been said, and i'll say it again, legendary thread right here!
Also, any more progress on it? it's been a while since anyone has posted in this thread.

Your car is not 'epic', this thread is not 'epic'....the OCEAN is epic, the UNIVERSE is epic.... please stop misusing this word!! It would appear Hotrods are the new VWs - aint fashion funny! '69 BUICK LESABRE 350

Wierd this has come up today, cos I have a progress report for you all Every so often someone tracks me down just to see it, every visitor notices and wants to know what it is (and some of the guesses are comical) and every day I want to fix this instead of working. But this year isnt the same as last, and what spare time I have at the moment is devoted to Team Blitz and his mad ride to mongolia. But that will be done really soon, and I know what I'm doing next ;D So, anyway...Quite a few people have asked me whats happening, and the answer is I broke it all forlorn and dustcovered cos I'm too busy and havn't got essential parts. don't worry, not mega serious. Firstly, once I finally got it running right and reliable, it blew a core plug. The back one which is an engine out job to change it. Core plug in question turned out to be a penny. 1936, george V Never mind, while its out I can have a look and see if the 1800 I aquired recently will fit instead. Second problem is the brakes. One of the drums is painfully thin, and has warped just with my local testing, brake pulses really badly now, and its not really driveable. Damn. Stuck. Couldnt find brake drums anywhere (been looking since september) until last week when Kevfromwales posted pics of a somerset in his mate's scrapyard. literally days later, and the day before my birthday, a present from wales ;D Kev, you are a star and I owe you one. I can get on with it again ;D

Yeah, polished it up so I can stick it on the dash.. It was glued over the top of the rotted out original... ffs. how did I miss that? I was busy, lol. Been nostalgia digging on my hard drive, found this vid. here's a 15 second glimpse into this time last year (13th may 2008, 22.36pm according to the meta info)
