I need an alternator for my 1993 Mk3 Polo (1 litre). A new one is a bit expensive and all 3 I took off at the scrap yard at the weekend were knackered in some way.
Anyone got one that works and the bearings are still OK that they would like to sell?
The numbers off mine are:
0 120 488 236 K1 - 14V 23/55A 036 903 027

If your not getting charge I would change the diode and brush section. I did it on a mk3 polo 1litre the other week for someone and it did the trick, also mk3 golfs with smaller engines have the same alternator with a slightly different tightening bolt arrangement (thats where I got the brush/diode from) - easy to swap over though it took me about 20 mins in all.

It's charging OK, but the bearings are knackered. The previous owner had over-tightened the belt. It's still useable but it's making a horrible whirring noise.
