need a small van for work and looking at either a rascal or a later diahatsu with the 1.3 efi only seen them but not driven one what they like to drive , i will be mostly round town and a few motorway trips prefer the rascal ,being older !but the diahatsu has the higher roofline which would be handy ive read all the stories about them doing 100 miles on 10 p of fuel but was wondering day to day round town what sort of amount they actually use as thats also one of the reasons I'm getting because of the light weight and small engine cheers ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Had 2 Rascals and a Supercarry, squillions of miles to the gallon carry a huge amount of curse word and are surprisingly swift up to about 40!A hoot to drive but the downside is that they rust badly and if not looked after properly they will overheat .All in all a great little machine. Our works van is a diahatsu hi jet and in comparing the two I would personaly choose the hi jet as it does everything that little bit better than the rascal.

was leaning towards a hi jet as a lot of the rascals ive seen up for sale have been old wrecks
although some of the hi-jets were pretty rough too! lol

we've had loads of both in our family, right at this moment we got 3 rascal campers for me mum, dad and sister to take all the kids/grandkids on holidays, a die hat sue mini bus thing to cart dogs about and a long bed 5 speed 1.3 diseasle die hat sue pick up thats gonna get a camper body bunged on it.
the rascals break down all the time in my experiance (so much so that me dad paid for a tow bar to be fitted to my car and bought me an A frame!) points are a known weak point and they don't seem to like them replaced with pointless electronic ones and just eat other parts of the ignition system instead then, they are slow noisy and uncomfy for anyone bigger than a japanese child and they are made of steel so thin you can see through it before it rusts, on the other hand they do loads of mpg, corner on two wheels, you can fit LOADS of stuff in em and buy them for pennies. The daihatsu's seem much more reliable.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Sent me up the fuggin wall and rendered the car unusable to my lass who did not trust it to get her from Newcastle to Sundrland. I replaced everything several times trying to cure it and never did. Glad its not just me!
