Hi all, ive been round here a while, checking out the rides but this is my 1st post (except to sell my old rover 213) so sorry if the pics etc don't work 1st time.
I've just sold my 306 dT (nice to drive with a bit of diesel/turbo tuning but too modern and anonymous) and bought this volvo I saw for sale by the side of the road:
Its pretty rough looking, which is what I liked about it, but closer inspection revealed 12months mot, with 1 owner (+the guy selling it) from new, for a shade over £200. It drove nicely for what is so 25 minutes later it was sat on my drive. Being used to an oversteery french hatch i thought I was going to fall out of the Volvo's window the 1st corner i went round, but cruising is growing on me as a driving style. Our lass pointed out that the last 3 letters of the plate spell out 'big volvo hoodride', so thats the route i think i'll go down with it.
Got some more tongue in cheek hot rod stickers and german plates coming for it, so all it needs is a big suspension drop in the immediate future. Anyone cut the springs on one of these before? The rears look easy but I want a bit of rake so gonna take a good few inch out of the front coils i think
Anyway, i know its got nothing on most of the quality machines on here but I like the look on peoples faces when they see a young pretender at the whell of a big old OAP machine!
