Whatever happened to 'innocent until proven guilty'? All the systems seem to be setup to presume guilt, making you prove them wrong.
Nothing worse than being accused of a crime you didn't commit - that's how the A-Team got started...

Well, the saga continues!
Got home from work yesterday morning and my neighbour told me the police had been at my house several times. He'd asked them if it was about the Saab by any chance and they told him it was. He explained to them the problems I've been having and they asked him to get me to phone them ASAP.
When I spoke to the officer, she said that the Saab had been reported for driving off after damaging another vehicle. I convinced her that I wasn't the current owner and she said to keep contacting DVLNI until I got the confirmation of change of ownership.
I got the letter from DVLNI today so hopefully I'm in the clear, although it doesn't say when they received the change of ownership details.
Fingers crossed! Aaron.

Motoring law in the U.K has been somewhat "short circuited" to make it easier for the police to prosecute motorists. There are so many motorists being accused of speeding e.t.c that the system wouldnt beable to cope if they had to deal with each case properly. Nowadays the system is set up to ratchet up the pressure on the accused motorist so they accpet the penalty wether they are guilty or not, this way it saves on paperwork and it doesnt have to go to court. If everyone who recieved a ticket used their legal right to go to court to resolve the matter the system would collapse overnight. "innocent until proven guilty"? Not if you drive a car!

Sold a Rover 414 I wrote off to guy who made me an offer I couldn't refuse I had intended to keep it as I wanted the engine for my Midget.
Couldn't find the V5, but sold the car on without it and just kept his details, gave them to the Police when they phoned me up to remove it from Thetford Forest. Saw it a few weeks later on the back of a truck on my way to work.
My brother did a part ex on his MK5 RS2000, and recieved loads of tickets for it speeding on Southend Sea front, garage sold it on and didn't bother filling out the V5.
One phone call both times and the problem disappeared.

Well, the farce has finally ended. After much hassle, the DVLNI (now DVA) admitted to my legal representative that they'd had the change of ownership details since 28/11/07 and therefore I am not liable for any of the offences. The guy at the tribunal, armed with this, contacted Roads Service to tell them that they'd end up with egg on their faces if they proceeded. After what seemed like a ridiculous amount of time, they contacted him today to say they will be dropping any actions against me. I can't believe it has taken so long, especially when DVA were in possession of this info all along, and were contacted by Roads Service after every offence. Anyway, I'm in the clear. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Aaron.
