Hello, I would like to introduce my 1976 Passat ts 3 speed auto!. It's in pretty good condition and has 60000 mls on the clock. Mechanically it's perfect. The interior is also in great cond. I'm on the lookout for 2 new (or good used) front wings. I need a set of Mk1 Golf GTI steel wheels. Can anybody help? Also, I'd like to lower it slightly. I've read on a couple of posts that lowering springs from a mk2 Passat will fit on the front and Sierra Cosworth springs will fit the rear. Are these standard Cosworth springs? Anyway here are some pics. I hope they work... What do you think?

nice one; good choice with the GTI rims; lowering is easy, you need lowering spings from a MKII Passat or any Audi 80 from 78-94 at the front, upper spring caps from the Passat/Audi and also the shocks fit... at the front, at the rear standard cossie springs fit; though usually there is not much lowering necessary at the rear, as the springs are settled.... check the body properly, if you want to see, how heavy these cars rust, look here : retrorides.proboards86.com/?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=37098&page=1waxoil would be a good idea ;D How comes that this is a LHD car in the UK?

Hi mrj, Wow, that is a rusty Passat ! That is a heroic restoration! Mine seems to be ok apart from the front wings. I've taken them off and it's ok underneath. Do you know where I can get new ones? My car is lhd as it was imported to Ireland from Germany in 1978. It had the same owner from new up to a couple of years ago.

Nice car you´ve got there Ed.
They´re getting rare as most of them have rotted away.
Oh and welcome aboard! ;D

the wings turn up from time to time on ebay, this is the place where to search.... if you find them in germany, i can help with the shipping/translation etc. Of course the wings are the same from the Audi 80 -76, but they are also rare now...

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm going to leave the auto box in it. Funny thing is, whoever bought it new ordered it as an auto, but they also ordered the sport seats, which I presume were also extra? I don't want to mess with it too much as it's so original. Just the wheels and some springs for now. Then, whenever I find some front wings I'll have it resprayed.
