A mate wanted a home for his 1985 Audi 90 Quattro as he didn't have the room or the time for it, a deal was struck and she's with me now. thinking about it, she's quite a bargain for what i paid.
121k on the clock. 9 months mot, 4 months tax. On the whole the bodywork is ok, small scruffy bits on most panels but if I can get on top of it she should be ok for a while. maybe a respray could be on the cards come winter.
Previous work includes a suspension rebuild back in about 2000 (about 100k on the clock) so she should be solid enough underneath.
Since my mate bought it she's had a new fuel pump, front discs, pads, rear calliper, exhaust. door handles and locks just rebuilt, recon radiator about a year ago. loose spares include rear arch panels, balljoints, door handles, rear reflector panel, spare alloys, spare bumpers and some other bits i've yet to collect.
The Interior is ok too, the side bolsters on the drivers seat are a bit flat so i'll have to see about a repair. funnilly enough it smells exactly the same as a mates old coupe he had in 1994. funny how certain memories stick with you.
She's got a cracking history file with the name and address of all the previous owners, old mots, a stack of receipts, half a dozen car mags with articles on the Audi 90 Quattro, handbooks and workshop manual.
I took her to work today, she guzzled through a gallon of unleaded pretty quickly so threw in 30 quid of optimax. That old 5 pot sounds so sweet. not quite loud enough for my liking but any louder and it would compromise things on long journeys.
First job tonight was to remove the Momo wheel and refit the std Audi one, I have a thing for 4 spoke steering wheels.
ah, much better.
There are a few jobs to do but she came with a bunch of spares so i'll be kept busy with little things. future plans include:-
sort of a hot starting issue
replace rear reflector panel with a used item.
replace the boot seal as its leaking at the moment.
refurbish a set of wheels for her
investigate the non functioning diff lock lights
treat the rusty spots
general check over of the underside
I did spy some 15" UR quattro wheels on ebay.de but must resist.....
