We're getting "Vintage Top Gear" (ie season 1) on telly here in Oz and they just showed the episode where they take the Riva to Hethel.
Here 'tis:
Purely out of curiosity, is it still around?

I think it went to germany via ebay. Probably to avoid Guy Croft torching it. He wasn't happy about how the BBC went about that I seem to recall.

That was the opinion expressed by the Lada enthusiasts in question! I'd give my right arm for a Lotus tuned one. (Although that'd be no good as I'm sure it was a manual!)

I know the guy who had it, he lives near Diss. His comment was it went from a reliable runabout into the most unreliable rocket - just got to the next breakdown faster which is why he sold it; but was great fun WHEN it worked...... Last I saw he had a Moskvich estate.......

The late Peter Brock here in skippy land built a few 'Brock' LAdA's ....apparently because of some argument he had with holdens , he had a redundant work shop. So when some 'suit' trying to sell LADAS came in and asked he was interested in a deal of some sort so they could sell cars Brock lept at it. The engines respond well to Tuning apparently,I've only ever seen one and it was being flogged through town in the wet...sideways. ;D

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

I knew a chap who worked on the production team for TG, apparently the owner was a bit of a plum. Constantly calling in and having a moan about the work that was done to the car, the ride is to harsh, its a bit thirsty, its quite noisy, his insurance has gone up etc .. Some people are never happy ...

The Lotus Lada was bought by a guy in Germany called Stefan. He brought it back to the Club Lotus Show at Donington the following year and it broke down ... a lot !!
AFAIK he still has it.
