Might as well post about the day here too! (from my post on Club GTI) Spent the day at Bruntingthorpe with Steve and Peter from the Golf+ mag for their 16v shoot out. Thirteen VAG 16v motors, including quite a few of the guys from off here were invited to set some times and a general hoon around the circuit. Cracking day we've had One car on track at a time with the Datron timing gear strapped inside ~( well gaffa taped) Setting 0-60 , 0-100 and 1/4 mile times, I think they recorded our max speeds but we weren't given them as they need to download the data, or something. Anyway, mine were 0-60 6.63 secs , 0-100 17secs and 15.3 standing 1/4, was hitting 7200rpm limiter in every gear which on reflection wasn't the best way to do it. Hit 131 on the Road Angel within the 2 miles straight so that wasn't bad. Wasn't that impressed with my times, but as some of the guys proved, it's all in the technique of launching the car, something i'm curse word at ( excuses over ) Best part of it for me was using the full width of the corners in between setting the times, massive grip from the A048Rs RobT broke the distributor drive on the Ibiza, which was a shame as the car is a very high spec. We'll never hear the last of it but Tub got a scorching sub 6 second 0-60 and a late 14sec 1/4 Got loads of pics and vids to sort out. Watch this space. They took about an hour to get the cars set up for the July issue cover shot. MY PICS CLICKYThe white Focus was an American spec car, three engineers from Cosworth were there developing the 2.3 Duratec motor for a tuning kit for the US market, 240ish bhp, went and sounded well. Here's a short vid of GVK enjoying himself at the end of the day... about 110mph through the left hander and up to 130 down the back straight PLEASE RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE AS. Yeaaahhh,f**kinavit!!And one of my first run along the runway. Standing startBruntingthrape! ;D
