My skoda has decided it doesn't want to drive very far anymore, so I need another reliable hack, I don't mind too much about how many miles it has as long as its reliable, I want it in low car tax bracket as well. OR has anyone a bleeding good Skoda 1300 engine without timing chain issues and or 1 litre of oil per week requirements ??

Thanks for the thoughts, all good so far.
The escort is high rate tax and in Norfolk, two negatives so far... but price is good, juist the whole spending £99 on tax and £70 or so quid to get ther eand back .... I would be bette roff looking at a local car and at least getting a test drive without having wasted a pile of much needed cash

I'd be tempted into letting my d reg sunny coupe go for 400 - it would have 12 months ticket on it, and it's a 1488 cc, so it's about the biggest you could get in the cheapo tax bracket! 80k, white - in generally good order! - kev

Almost on the road: b11 sunny breadvan, e36 tds, 325i skidcar,
nearly there: ford f250 tathauler, suzuki alto, u11 bluey
not for a while: ford pop, 32 rails,
not in this lifetime: ruby, '29 hillman

Tis a Felicia LXi , 1.3 spi, the normal Timing chain issues, which have now become seriously noisy, heater now stopped getting warm, temp gauge never moved less i am in traffic for ages, uses about 1 litre of oil per 1000 miles, drives like a bag of wibblepoo. feels like its running on 3 then 4 then 3 then 4 when under load??
I don't drive it any more than 4 miles at a time now, because I don't want to sit in a cold car for 2 hours waiting for the AA to tell me its a shed.
On the good side, new exhaust, new discs, pads, shocks, FSH and 5 months T & T, wish it would just run better, hense why I am wanting another car to use whilst this is sorted.
