Evening
A friend has been given the aforementioned beast and has handed it on to me to try and get it working properly and store it - 100CC's of faded red and pink plastic fantastic OAP spec twist and go (not so) brilliance :-)
Kinda like this, but with a manky white box on the back and fairly battered:
We went and got it from where it has stood for a year, unseized the front brake (by dismantling the caliper and bludgeoning the pads off - all the friction material fell off and the disc was welded to the backing plate by skank and filth) and pushed it 2 miles so he can leave it in my garage - it started first kick though!
Started taking it apart this morning - being a Honda every single piece of crappy plastic was held on stubbornly by about 10 screws, but amazingly only one so far is rounded and seized and will need drilling.
The whole body was full of insect debris, hundreds of ladybirds, spiders and webs, droppings and a plant which had grown up through the fork and wound its way around the light and speedo cable ;D
Doesn't seem to have rotted to death though - just going to clean all the wibblepoo out of it, clean up all the mechanics and treat any rot on the frame an then chuck it back together - brakes seem the only real things thats borked but they also seem to less complicated than the Avids on my mtb, so that should be easy enough
Thing is, could it ever be made, in anyway at all, something that you wouldn't be horrified to take out in public
I'm wondering how it will look as a bare frame - and I'm also wonder ing if you get could bodge a lambretta/vespa body on to the frame for a reliability/chic counter culture clash!
