yeah, i got an SRi, but, it's like, a bike'n'all and not no smelly 90's vauxhall
so yeah, got a wee frame off ebay so that i wouldn't have to use my freestyle, which is a) too liable to damage, b) too sentimentally valuable, and c) curse word!
once i had the frame i sorted a few things I had lying around waiting for it, like wheels which i picked the decent-ist pair, dia-compe brakes and other bits i gathered up what i wanted for it and took them to work on saturday...
...where i had another stash of bits i'd set aside for it...
the headstock of the frame had got dinged in transit but regardless we (this being my conspirator in all things retro [who's on here but cant remember his name] jonny) bashed the frame a bit and used a headset press to force a sealed cartridge a-headset in
then we were able to put the forks in, bolt on some fat pegs, bend the star nut flanges because it was way too big and put it in crooked, and with the aid of a small spacer the badass big Snafu stem went on
out of the stash came a DB BB, single piece DB crank and a 44T Snafu chainring (you'll notice I like Snafu)
the brakes were a wee bit retarded as there was no way we were successfully managing to put them on right on the front, but the back worked. bite really good now after tweaking. and cutting cables is for soft-core riders ;D lol
the front brakes had nowhere to tension the outer cable against so Jonny had this mad idea (best explained in pics) which I'll have to admit I didn't believe would work...
and there you have it. Snafu seatpost clamp, seat and post to be changed, pedals to eb changed (expected 1/2, needed 9/16" so had to fire on plastic rubbish) snafu bars, random scrappy levers but they work for now, no grips yet, taya chain, one wheel is an Alex rim and the other a ... oo, forget now...!
and its chrome, which is nice
