Well, Wednesday came, I nipped out for lunch and when I got back, 5 full pallets and another half a pallet of roof tiles awaited me on my drive! 9 Miles of walking up and down the drive later (really - 100 feet approximately, 250 'round trip' journeys carrying one bundle of 6 tiles at a time, you do the maths!!!) and they were all in place near the relevant side of the garage. Unfortunately I've only had an hour or so to chuck the tiles up there, but I'm happy with the results. I'm hoping to do a bit every evening and then I've got Sunday free so I can attack it 'full pelt' then.... I'm just happy that hopefully all the single large spends are over now! lol

Looks well, did you do all the work yourself too? Looks like a good length and you've certainly utilised the full width of the area you have!! It's been a pretty steep learning curve for me - that said, there's nothing that's rocket science about it all - it just takes a bit of thinking and a whole lot of grafting!
As for the budget, my 'plucked from the air' figure of £5k is indeed long gone, I reckon I'll be all done for less than £10k though, I'm somewhere up between 8.5 and 9k at the minute and basically only have timber for the doors, plasterboard, insulation, timber and electrics for the inside and that's about it now. Hopefully.
Then I get to start on the drive!!

Remember that you've probably added more than the 10k to the value of the house if you ever sell. A petrol head would fall in love with the garage and then convince the wife the house was ideal!

I was going to make mine 2storey but couldn't justify the extra cost so just went the extra mile with the spec as my knees aren't what they used to be so I built to the same spec as a house with double skinned insulated Walls , proper kingspan slab insulation in the roof and underfloor heating which will be powered by a combi boiler . I've pinched every inch I could so the garage is nearly a metre wider at the back than it is at the front so I had to hand build the roof . I can fit three small cars in at a pinch but it's a roomy double garage to be honest despite the size . Il be up to 15k once it's finished but it's worth every penny to me having a warm place to mess with my cars over winter .
It's taken me a bit longer than yours as I was digging footings when you started the thread and did it in stages as funds allowed .

Bit more from a quick blast this evening. I think this is my favourite job so far as it's relatively easy, leaves no mess and you get instant results! Incidentally, I'd no idea that aluminium nails even existed until doing the roofing! lol

Well, I managed to get some time to myself and have most of the day on it (after giving my sister a driving lesson in the morning!), so at about half ten, I set to it. I decided that lunch was for the weak, and all I needed was sweet chilli coated peanuts and robinsons squash (no added sugar, orange if you're interested) was all I needed to carry on until it was done. And lo, at about 3pm, we had this! The eagle eyed among you will notice there is one tile missing, but that's because I need another 'tile and a half' to finish it off. Actually I need another 19 tile and a half's as I need to do the other side too, but that's a minor issue. Albeit one that prevented me from starting the other side... Instead, I'm going to see if anyone can tell what else I've done today! Happy days, it's pretty dark in there now!!

Looking good! Had planning refused for my pitched roof so will be going flat roof to come in under permitted development. Also means I will be selling the Commer in the Spring as it won't fit! Should free up some cash though.

this is gonna sound daft but did you work out the tiling batten so the ridge tiles will cover? the batten needs to be between 35-50 mm down from the top of the rafters

Hi lilbob, yep, the pic is deceiving but I did indeed work out the tiling batten so that the ridge tiles will cover ok

Should be done (bar the ridge tiles) on Sunday, weather permitting! I've done over a third of the other side a week or so ago but forgot to update here... Fingers crossed it doesn't snow before then - was hailing well today at lunchtime...!!
