Now that is an impulse buy!! don't know a lot about em but a decent old skool cruiser sounds appealing.

not sticktly "impulse" as ive wanted a cruiser for a few years since when i kept stealing my mates s&m to go to the chip shop on and found it to be the quickest most comfortable bike id ever ridden ( hence why ive got a load of s&m cruiser pics ) trouble is an s&m frame would have set me back £320 new and then theres forks as well and seeing an s&m cruiser on ebay is rare id have gone for an 80s cruiser ( for the lightweight , and cool ) redline etc but they are all really short on the toptube with really long back ends which makes a bike have a curse word feel , not to mention the inch headset id seen the azusa while searching before so i knew about them and its made by supercross so its plenty strong i was actually looking for a mavic rim for my jump bike to swap my hope hub out of its atomlab rim to build it up again to just thrash around on and then i thought why not just look for cruisers again and it was the first in the list winking at me with its real race credentials anyone got a rear profile cassette hub , ti 10 tooth driver , ti 10mm axle taking up space they want out of the way ? or anyone work in a shop that will do me a deal

I see, kind of mid skool, interesting mix of bits, i bet they'd fly round a track. Important thing is you are clearly quite excited about this project, so good luck, looking forward to seeing the build up.

yeah they call it retro as its new ( well built with decent tubing using modern methods , v mounts , correct angles , 1" 1/8 headtube etc ) but in a classic style have a search for modern race cruisers and youl see they look curse word ( except the s&ms ) ive found a pic of it racing at the world champs in paris 2005 how freakin sweet to quote tim ( who ive bought it from and who is in the pic ) "the worlds was good and bad.Ok the track was short and sandy and no air con in the penns was hardto take but the racing (especially the eliteon saturday night) was awsome. Unfortunatly i didnt get past the motos, had a bit of bad luck in moto 1.gated ok and got to the first rollers when the rider next to me decided to bail and his bike came flying my way.Over extended me knee as i bailed, came in 7th. Next moto got a third but knee was starting to swell badly. Third moto couldnt snap out of the gate cos of me knee.Let everybody go so that I could have a clear run at the large table with two rollers on top in the second straight.Cranked like a b**s**d at it but never reached required speed cos of me knee.went for it anyway! sailed over table and first roller but came upshort on second roller! OTB'ed to floor haha. Got up feeling rather dizzy but with a big grin and proud of myself for giving it a go. So from then on the rest of the weeeknd was spent on the beer watching the racing and sightseeing. Found the womens volleyball world tour was in town next to the eiffel tower Talk about happy. In between the volley ball matches they had dancing girls (who from there moves must have been x pole dancers!) in between the sets.VERY VERY HAPPY! " ( a moto is like eliminations/qualifying so you end up with the top 8 for the final )

ill put it in the back of the camper for rr08 , built or not ive nearly finished stage 1 ( 120 grit ) of polishing my right hand crank arm and my thumbs are sore i think a red , chrome , blue scheme would look good as i can use my blue chris king headset blue dmr grips blue redneck stem ( until i get something lighter and polished ) titanium bottom bracket m600 ( shimano lx 1998 ) v brake orange ! original dmr pedals ( again 98 , the wellgo type before they used their own casting ) polished middleburn rs7 cranks ive got a cheap 25.4 seatpost polished flite titanium/carbon fibre seat polished nokon cable so I'm part way there with the parts i can " borrow" from my other steeds i just need to source s&m cruiser bars ( i hope they make them in chrome ) a fly lever ( ill have to polish it ) araya polished rims a profile rear cassette hub ( again polished ) a chainring ( i figure a 24 tooth if i use a 10 tooth driver ) a chain some blue chainring bolts gsport tapered nipples an undecided front hub skinwall comp 3 copy tyres blue crank bolts dmr wonder cups itl look ace ;D

I've got a Haro cruiser- nowhere near as nice as your kit like!! I used to get some proper looks off the local youth as most of them had never seen a cruiser before. Only thing I done to mine tho is some DK iron cross pedals, got to get a chain ring to match

what you getting ? literally just after i posted the pic the postie knocked the door and handed me some stuff i was mid way through polishing the profile seatclamp and sanding the top of the post so it can be slammed ( yep its that poor quality it tapers to a thicker diameter at the top lol ) so now it sits like this the dmr wondercups v2 . so the 68mm bottombracket sits inside the wondercups and doesnt end up putting the bottombracket out wider than the shell like the old ones did ) its an fsa ultimax carbon/titanium so now i can hang my cranks off it and my bargain tektro rbp these are sooo simple . see the black part - thats the spring which is adjusted by the pivot bolt ! just loosen the brake , move to set desired tension/ballance and tighten they don't even have locating pins for the mounting holes , they just tighten down on the mount and for the eagle eyed amongst you the seatclamp lacks a bolt cos it was wrecked nothing is greased yet all fastenings are "nipped" in place the right hand crank arm is polished the left is only in the stages of removing the clear anodising ( lots of sanding cos i cant be arsed to go into chemical removal lol )

Reading this thread has just made me realise how much i want/need a cruiser in my life, never mind the fact i'm currently flogging a decent bmx due to not having time to ride it. And i've now just found an S&M frame going for a ton. Retro rides is going to be my financial ruin!
