Just picked up this seperates system local to me off Freecycle   Wharfdale laser 90 speakers Nad 3020 amp Akai Cd55 cd player Marantz Sd40 tape deck Sherwood tuner All for free and in very good condition too complete with instructions and boxes     Nice bit of oofage for the new year ;D |

Nice !! I've got a NAD amp in my garage that I pulled out of a skip ! Along with a set of mission speakers. Amazing what people chuck away !  Ha, like the first pic, with RR on the computer sneakily in the background..  |

Nice one! Retro hi-fi is where it's at. There are bargains to be had now that everyone seems to be going for home cinema systems.
My in-shed separates (a cast-off 1991 top-end Sony Amp and Tuner with far too many buttons and LCDs/LEDS combined with some free 90s Sony speakers) system isn't sounding as good as it used to -I'll have to keep an eye out for a new amp to plug the mp3 player into.
I've got a bargain basement used Akai amp and Mission speakers on my PC which sounds superb and we've got an NAD amp and Mission speakers on the TV.

Hey top quality stuff! - Theres always supposed to be these new technical advances thats supposed to make HiFi sound better, but to be honest if it sounded good 10-20 years ago, so long as it hasn't lost its sensitivity it should still sound good now Good find! I've got a pair of old B&W CM1 monitor speakers that came from Abbey Road, they are probably at least 20yrs old but sound brilliant! Also I was treated to a listen of a studio reel to reel tape player through some quality floor standers & amp (belonging to a fellow Derby owner) & WOW i've never heard anything sound so pure! |
