(Mods - please don't move to for sale due to historical importance and the fact that after tomorrow it'll be gone anyway! Ta.)
My mate Bortaf, whom some of you may know from the buysellcortina site, has got an immensley (sp??) rare Toyota Celica XT Coupe sitting on the back of his transporter tonight. This is apparently one of only three in the country. It has no tax or mot but all that is needed is two small plates welded on to it for it to get it's ticket. It's on a B plate with original Toyota Alloys (including centre caps). Trouble is he's going to scrap it first thing in the morning. I know that this doesn't give much time but I'll be happy to store it for up to a week if someone will buy it from Bortaf. I think he's looking for about GBP150. He could deliver within reasonable distance and his rates are excellent. I haven't put this on the for sale site because of the urgency of the sale. I've told Bortaf about this site and I believe he'll be putting photos up in the next hour or two.

fugging hell I would love that, i love those old RA60 celicas. Unfortuately i've already scanned the net, done the sums and decided it won't fit in the space at the side of my dad's garage due to being 7 inches longer than a Rancho, which was the absolute limit..... It seems a terrible waste, is there no way you can persuade him to hang on a bit?

He won't hold onto it as he's no storage and unless he's got a guarenteed buyer then he's worried that it would sit around for ever! He had it on ebay and it didn't sell so he's decided to weigh it in. If I can find a buyer tonight then I'll keep it in storage for a week or so but I've very little space so I can't offer to store it for any longer than that.

I could stretch to 100 quid for it if its driveable, but I cant pick it up straight away due to being in France! It will be 3 weeks min till i've got a free weekend to collect it. But I could pay a storage charge if it wasnt too heavy. Can anyone on here suggest anything?

Mr B - I've left a message for him not to scrap it - I hope he gets it in time. PM me your number/email and I'll get Rob to drop you a line. I'll store it if necessary but it must be a definite sale. 3 weeks is a bit long but I'll do my best.

Unimex, i'll pm you my details. I'll pay up front by paypal if you like. Rev D-D, could I store it with you for a while? I'll happily pay you a bit of storage money if the pressure is off a bit to get it shifted. Also that would help me if there was a chance to address any 'red hot issues' that might prevent me from driving it a long way.

Yeah no worries mate. If I jiggle the minor about I should be able to stick it in the workshop so it'll be safe from prying eyes ( not that thats much of a problem at my unit anyway).
Unimexsol, I'm on bsc too, so if rob wants to pm me through there and let me know when he's bringing it over we'll go from there.

I didn't manage to get hold of Bortaf in time before he left for the scrap yard!   . . . . . . . . . But the car was saved, just as Bortaf started the engine on his truck a bloke came running up to him to ask if it was for sale. He bought it there and then. Massive thanks to all those on here though, especially MR B and the Rev DD. I'm gutted that Mr B missed out on this but still really pleased that it didn't end up on the scrap heap. |

Just a reply to say sorry i didn't get the message earlyer, sorry if anyone got messed about but it did go to somone who wan'ts to do it up AND i sold it to him for less than the scrap value ;D It was the one on ebay, it drove really nice 2 welding plates and an indicator on it would have been on the road, i even put a new battery on it. Cheers Uni for the tip, seems like my kinda site with a nice broad range of cars on here If i get any more old skool non fords i'll be sure to offer it here first ;D |

Unfortunatly i've had a few end of life rare cars go through my hands but they all live on in one way or another and the better ones (like the celica) go to good homes.
