well I'll break you into my world of bike building gently with the start of my bantam project.
I'd been buying a few bits and pieces off the bay, i had got some honda fork legs as they fit bantam yokes, which were intended for a front half of my c11. I had a pair of gp100 wheels for £6 with near new tyres and I had a bantam tank from about 3 years ago. just milling around.
I went to copdock bike show and tripped over this little d3 swing arm frame, complete with yokes, swing arm and shocks for a tenner. I wasn't going to turn down a little bargain like that when i knew what i had laying around to fit it
its like a mini bsa a10 with the rocker shaped shock mounts.
half an hour and it looked like this^^
the bars were knock down new 'uns, i had the amal twist grips and levers already.
the rear gaurd is an alloy trials one with some lovely beatings and patina going on which needs to be preserved the rear stays have come off now.
currently with slaters dad having this part machined back to get the wheel centred.
the top yoke on a bantam is a taper fit and need to be adapted for the honda legs. its being turned out then having a tube brazed on the side for a pinch bolt, then slit sawed.
this raised portion is being spun off for clearance. I could use a slitting disc, but radco will make it look pretty.
and for power?
courtesy of oldskoolcortina, i already had this mbx 125 engine. at 13bhp its probably 10bhp up on the 150cc bantam lump has a split water jacket top, at the moment it has some "just like metal" silicone turd on it, it seems to hold water
in case you wondered, the seat is a pillion from a zxr400 on backwards
you might be able to see the engine offset that'll be needed on this bike. ie. quite a lot! at least I'll have room to get the front pipe past the down tube tho
its a bit of fun that stands me in a not a lot. it keeps me busy, but i also have 2 others to build!
hope you like so far
