Got given a Clod QD on the weekend, its one of the ready to run basic jobbies that takes ordinary batteries, gonna stick a bigger motor and a connector for a proper battery pack in it, but in the mean time i thought i'd sort out another shell for it. Hmmm needs the Zakspeed arches i reckon.

This one is about half the size of a proper clod, but it'll give my daughter somethin to drive and give me an excuse to get my blackfoot out every now and again.

it's a pity you can't get 'proper' mac struts for rc stuff, it's not really gonna handle like an escort if it ain't got a live axle and mac struts is it?

the old tamiya 4x4's have proper live axles, and a lot of the cheaper old buggies have a "live" axle with the gearbox and motor attached, it also wouldnt be hard to alter the double wishbone front suspension from somthing like my blackfoot seeing as the coilover is mounted on top of the wheel hub anyway. just a matter of removing its pivot and taking the top arm away.
course most racers and rally drivers do as much as is allowed by the rules to get away from escort suspension.

but would the damper tube be strong enough? actually probably since there is no brake forces going through it.
new school rc rockcrawlers have some very nice transmissions/axles type setup.
hmm spend money on a new rc project or fix my real car...

ive managed to find some associated rc10s should be good for a laugh Show me pictures The early ali tub RC10s are fetching good money in the right circles at the mo. Desperately wanted an original Clodbuster when I was a kid aswell - they had twin shocks per wishbone, twin motors & 4 wheel steering if I remember correctly My mate's got a Traxxas E'max with twin brushless & 2x 7.2v set-up - thats rather good fun

ive always wanted an rc10 or a losi xx but I'm going to have to knock that idea on the had for a while as ive just pressed buy it now on another ropey old ford because the missus said she had the money ! i wont say anything abot it now as i have yet to tell her its ours let alone picking it up i remember a mate had a proper clodbuster ( wernt they about £400 ? ) and it looked like great fun , proper huge too lol might just end up with a mardave v12 and a kamtec body for cheap easy retro cool i wouldave justified the purchase of an rc10 because my mates son would play with it while we were working on the cars but old fords have just put me in rather a substantial debt lol

Spent this afternoon hiding at work looking at Tamiya R/C stuff. Gonna dig my Lunch Box van out of my parents loft at the weekend. Re-paint it, get it running and pass it onto my nephew... (honest!!)
