Ciao Tifosi
Since we now have this non-Retro Ride corner where we can delv deeeep into our sick, demented, gearheads (and other bodyparts as of laetly) for some inspiration of things that are not that obvious to us all, WE NEED THIS...
This Italjet Formula was once a bright red shining "pit-scoot" for a Swedsih Super Bike Team (Ducati Stockholm) and after 2 seasons on tracks, in back of team buses it looked like a bunch of scrap plastic and was dumped in a corner at the Swedish Italjet Importer where I worked at the time, during the winter 2001-2002 when I have finised an Italjet Dragster for the Stockholm MC Show I felt like doing somthing with the Formula. I had my painter "Pelle-Plast" shoot whatever undamaged PVC I could find around in a satin black colour, the seat went to Sadelmakarna.se to be reupholstered, the suede they used are the same as is used by Momo & OMP in their steering wheels (f*ckin expensive), all the openings it the body was covered with mesh, all lights (and other non essentials) removed. I fitted a steering stem & bars from Amoeba (this was a first at that time) and went on to the motor. The motor has gone through 3 or 4 different stages, first it was setup with Malossi MHR 50cc just to get it rolling, shortly after that I fitted a NOS Holley Nitrous Oxide system and it went like stink untill KAAABOOOOMMM, new motor with Hebo 70cc but did never work that good, a new set of Malossi MHR 50cc was ordered up and Malossi told me they only had 2 cranks and 3 cylinder kits left, I bought it all and now it's rolling on the last crank and I have one cylinderkit on the shelf but now it's slightly de-tuned and only used for cruising.....
The Formula was first featured in Twist & Go Magazine (today T&G) in a story by Paul ItaljetDragster.com Robinson in 2002, after that I has been featured in a couple of scooter rags in Japan and Scootering Magazine did a partial re-run som years back and during this winter it will be shot again for a feature in Paul ItaljetDragster.com Robinson's new scooter rag Petrol. So I guess it's been featured all over and I still see pix posted of it at moped & scooter sites all over so I guess I did something "out of the box" and it still holds it's own...
OK so some pix shot a couple of weeks ago by "LĂ„ngDanne"....
The story Paul did for Twist & Go Magazine....
DP says: This little sucker will stay with me till the end of days, I just love it...
