Awesome stuff, this is almost giving me scooter withdrawal symptoms! good stuff dp, those small frames do like to rust on the running boards don't they haha. Saw a PK the other day which was so bad it had broke in half and been welded up with box section! Rather them than me!

i can beleive it, classic scooter guys seem to think vehicle safety doesnt apply to them
just for an example, when i turned up to a meet in my mini, i got slated for not riding my scoot, even tho i must of told them it didnt have tax or test!

trg1984 in da house: good stuff dp, those small frames do like to rust on the running boards don't they hahaYeaaaa you bet it had rust!!!! Got the body back from Hot Rods by Max with all the rust & holes filled up so I just had to go at it with a sander, BIG MISSTAKE!!!! This sucker has dents & dings on every square inch!!!! there's not a straight panel on this sucker. When I started to sand it down I soon found out that it had a thin orange stock paint under a thick white paint that was under a full coat of bondo over the whole scoot!!!!! over that was another coat of white that was topped with barhroom caulking (!!!!!) in a few spots and then topped with a light pink wall paint!!!! digging through this made me almost loose all hope for it but after a couple of days starring at Kirk Hammet's Cole Foster built 36 3-window I just feel that a Vespa has sooo much of that feel so now plans have changed. Ot with teh Salt Flats look and I will keep it bare metall with a coat of Ankor Wax, under the seat, fenders and inside the engine compartment it will be painted with some kind of gloss paint, I like the texture of engine enamel and I'll most likely use that in either Volvo Penta Green, Chevy Orange or Ford Blue and the Mexican Blanket seat will fit right in, I have also bought a set of dropped bars from Worb5 and a 39 Ford tail light for that Hor Rod look. The Moon Discs will stay but a set of wide white wall tyres are on order and a couple of other Hot Rod icon parts, you just wait and see.... Some pix from the grind..... Not that my dented Vespa will ever look anything like it, this is what got me gonig again.... DP says: Just keep on grinding......

sorry to hear about all the filler dp, getting rid of that is a right nightmare!!
it looks brilliant in bare metal and i think the dents add some character, and at least it wont look like a trailor queen. when we were restoring my mates px he refused to fix any of the dents as they were part of its character. just tell everyone that u think the same as my mate haha.
looking foreward to seeign this getting built up now, they come together really quickly if you have the time to do em

trg1984 in da house: they come together really quickly if you have the time to do emWell not quite in my case though, had a major setback yesterday, I had orderd a set of Dropped Bars from Worb5 and after waiting 6 weeks a set of standard bars landed, It sucks!!!! So now I have to ship them back and hopefully NOT have to wait another 5 weeks for the right ones. Got the taillight some weeks ago and had a test fit (with tape) of the 39 Ford light I will use, it will have to move slightly down and I don't know if I'll use blue dot or not.... i prefer the one without the blue dot, much cleaner imo, but the blue dot is very "hot rod" so very in keeping with what your going for.
i think a bloke i know had a similar light on the back of his sportique

leigh in da house: Any progress on this recently dp?
Sadly NO....
As mentioned Worb5 delivered a set of stock handlebars that was shipped back and I'm still waiting for them to arrive dropped, have NO clue to the delay, it sucks!!! and made the project grind to a standstill....
Having my hands full at work right now and with a "home improvement project" at Mosta Hill ALL of my wheeled projects have been set in a holding pattern, I really miss working on my rides and every now & then I go out in the workshop at night and bring a beer and sit around talking to The LTO Project, Bonneville Baby & The Formula, feeling the closeness to my Iron Sportster motor, my Santee Chopper frame that one day will be filled with a Honda CB750 motor and some crazy 70's stuff, looking and holding all my "funky stuff" that one day will come to use on a project stranger than life. The Shop Hack Skoda PickUp is looking quite sad since it has yet to get it's yearly spray of primer but for this weekend I hope to have atleast IT done up with new Moon Discs so I can go Cruise Power Big Meet in Västerås....
