I've been doing a bit of rearranging of my work bench over the past couple of days. While I was at it I finally sorted out my chair too. I know I'm not the first and I certainly won't be the last but I am wondering if it will help me to work faster. Perhaps lend me more support when I'm turning?   The seat was a £2 bargain at the Uxbridge autojumble but didn't really work when I mocked it up in the Herald. So it's sat in the way in the work room ever since  A few bits of steel bar and a some drilled holes later at least its being put to good use  |

Nice one seth. dangerous things chairs in workshops...it means you can sit back and actually plan what yore doing....dangerous.....! |

I wanna see the contraption behind On the right is my "new" lathe complete with a very handy drilling tailstock attachment. The binocular microscope above swings round to the front so I can see what I'm doing. The black pulleys behind are for speed changes. What you can't see is my "old" lathe next to it, behind the chair. This actually has a better more sturdy bed design and I'll be converting it to do gear cutting and other useful stuff with a vertical spindle mounted on a cross-slide. |
