I bought this over 3 years ago as a "cheap" way to go bike racing. At the time it had standard brakes, Standard ish carbs and supposedley well sorted internals.
Since then we've had it apart and fitted twin pot calipers instead of the singles (4 pots or more not allowed), the biggest discs we could get on - off an FZR 1000 spaced to fit the calipers.
A wider rear wheel from an XJ 600 to gain more tyre contact area on the track as well as converting it from drum to disc brake.
The CV carbs were ditched in favour of some Flatslides off an early GSXR 750 slabsider. These have larger centres from carb to carb than the standard setup,so i had to make up some offset manifolds on the outer 2 pots and space the inner 2 pots out 12mm to line the carbs up correctly as i had to use different pairs of inlet rubbers.I got away with using the standard inlet rubbers on the 2 inner pots but curved GSX 1100 ET rubbers were used on the outer 2 and with a lot of luck they worked out great!
The bike has to go in the 750 class as the original 550 class was scrapped due to people cheating fitting XJ 600 and FZ 600 engine parts.
This isnt as much a problem as you might think as the bike is more nimble and lighter than the true 750s (GPZs,GSXs,CBs etc) and can now legally be fitted with FZ parts as this bike now is.
The bodywork (not that there is much) consists of a standard tank,CBR 600 sport race seat and an unknown front mudguard that i got off a mate.
I prefer the 'widebars' approach to these types of bike so i fitted the widest set i could find.
Quite a difference from a standard bike don't you think?
