Wow i love that top one is that the Conion or the Claritone version?? thats definatly on my list to get hold of high prices in the states and shipping are a bummer though as they weigh so much and i don't think they were sold here up to 800 dollars for that beauty I had a CROWN exactly the same but in a moment of stupidity at 15 i swopped it with a mate for a shotgun should have kept the CROWN they make easy 100-150 quid on Ebay and the gun is long gone now (took it for service and found the barrels had got damaged)

indeed, those CROWNs were making top dollar when i passed it on - £250 most ive seen one go for. possibly the worst quality getto going, made with the cheapest plastic and its a totally hollow box. its definately got the blingy tho.
the top one is a clairtone. i had it imported on a very risky basis - paid off tho, got it for £250 all in. that was in 2004 i think i got that. thy were going for mad prices back then but i just got lucky. was an ebay auction that didnt take off as well as the seller hoped. it ended at 3am - go figure! pretty good bit of kit, has the elusive conion tape door as well. has some issues tho. back panel is melted in one place, one ariel is missing and one tape deck doesnt work. bit woolly sounding too.
only sold in usa as conion - canada as a clairtone and a helix in asia i think, hella rare tho the helix. theres even rarer gold versions of these.
in 83 they were something like $800 even back then. so expensive it had to be made with a burglar alarm. its an iffy burglar alarm at that but its flippin loud!
I'm only guessing but i don't believe there could be more than 10 in the uk. i only know of one in london, one in hampshire, one in devon a polish kid had, mine, one in ireland and another in the netherlands. probably more but i don't know of any.

I've got one of these as well, found down at the local tip. I wouldn't risk an album on it (the stylus is a bit nail-like), but 20p singles from the charity shops sound great. I've also got a couple of the ubiquitous Hitachi TRK 8190Es, but both need cassette drive belts, which I've not got around to sourcing yet. One of them has still got the "16W DPRS Dobbly OMG WTF" sticker on the cassette door.

not sure but at a guess id say either corroded/broken connections somewhere or amp troubles. go on www.stereo2go.com and ask on there - thats the ghettoblaster equivelent of this site, plenty of geeks on there. mention also that you found that 767. its the sort of mythical scenario on there - being one of the most desirable ones an all that

Wow, I had no clue at all that these things went for so much money, and so many people were nerding them up (with no offence intended guys!). I don't think I ever owned one with so many knobs (I was pretty much into the 90's before I got into music, so it was all black plastic and smooth corners) but that's probably for the greater good, since I'm a destructive little sod and would probably have just broken it when I got a CD player. Great collections guys, and good to see them all in use

I was told they have about 30 of them stuffed away upstairs they need checking for electrical saftey etc some are very large, they are gonna get some out to show me tommorow. But i'll probably just make them an offer on the whole lot and flog off what i don't want ;D

JVC RC-X510 apart from dented speaker grills and a few scratches its A1 works 100% sounds great too for a modern on (90's) i think. but still going into my collection Phillips AZ8267 Filthy and scabby but 100% working so that will be put into service in my garage as i don't mind it getting filthy lets see what they sort me out next week

yeh id like a big ben and others like that but the one I'm after is fairly insignificant in the whole scheme of things. so quite cheap and easy to get on the rare occasion they come available but like everything, when you want one in particular, they dissappear off the face of the earth!
hotwire if you want big and cheap youll have to look at something like a shabby sharp GF or a piper - pipers come up real cheap, good quality, loud, look the part but no one ever really wants them for some reason! easy pickings. everything else is hella expensive and sought after otherwise. size and looks = $$$
