Thought I`d post these up
First one is a very early P7 as the frame has integral seat clamp and no bosses underneath the down tube
Its a 19" frame and has Deore XT groupset and cantis, and STX RC shifters and rear mech
I have got the original Bar and stem somewhere for it as well, the only thing thats not original is the rear wheel which has been replaced sometime
The front is Mavic TIB 230 on STX-RC hub and the rear should be the same but isnt done before I bought it unfortunately
I was going to sell it when I got back from Japan with a new Scott, but then I rode it back to back with the Alloy scott and I fell in love with it again.....
I then went looking for a 17" P7 frame with the intention of building this bike into it and selling on the 19"
I found this
17" Orange P7 frame and forks, which had been used as a london commuter bike
But its a later frame......
Now the problem is on something as simple as a bike the Devil really is in the details.... and when I compare the "New" frame with my 19" its a mile apart...
The early bike is just gorgeous and all the welds are uniform and Soft looking, the braze ons are all hand finished and radiused corners....
The later bike although from the same factory just doesnt have the "Hand fabricated" look of the early bike
And the finish is a soft "Brushed Nickel" on the 19" and far better than the later bikes Nickel plating
I need to strip the laquer off the 17" really and then polish it up and relaquer it which will make it look a lot better, but I am still torn with what to do
Early and later headstocks show the welding and tube fitment differences
Do I sell the 19" complete as its still worth very good money ?
And then clean up and build the 17" with later ebay finds just to have a nice steel frame MTB ?
Do I sell the 17" and carry on with the 19" which is still too big for me ?
Do I sell them both and keep a look out for a nice 17" P7
complete
Bearing in mind I still have a hybrid/road bike to sell as well, to get a proper road bike, and I may sell the scott to buy/build a P7
That gives me one MTB and One Road bike
But I must say the BMX`s posted up on here are achingly and seriously tempting too
Ideas and suggestions as always very welcome
