As Black8driver did it, I guess a me too is sort of in order....?? I always like the look of chopped, redesigned bikes and cars, hence my addiction to RR's I took a BMW R80/7 and turned it from this..... to this.... Great fun, and feeling of achievement. Straight through pipes etc.... was loud and reasonably fast.

Smart - what tank did you use?

Smart - what tank did you use? Completely handshaped, and beaten from virgin steel. Then welded the two shells and shaped, and lead wiped. Thanks for the compliments. Naaaahhhhh..... pulling yer leg. Gotta say Tank found in scrapped for 50p, and then cleaned, found massive dents, so ex crash tank that had been repaired before. Did however lead fill the dents, shaped them and finally sprayed after some spray filler. Tank from a Honda 750L Custom (1970's vintage.) My rear mudguard was the nicest piece of work IMO, took two old, very old Suzuki 120cc delivery bike mudguards, split one central, and took 25mm from the second, welded them up, then lead wiped the joins, finished, and used NO filler. The rear seat was bits from 2 different Vespa seat skeletons I combined than had upholsered, and the Rear suspension was a lot of head work to get to , even though it was so basic in the end. It was one of those projects you always want to do, and never get to do. Interestingly, the bike has been returned tostandard by a mate who bought it from me, and all the bits I cut off were rewelded on a jig.

Did google for an image, but no trace..... so use your imagination for the tank and attached bike.
Was a typical 70's to early 80's attempt at copying the look of the Harley Davidsons of the era.

That's brilliant bud, always loved the engine shape on these and the way the finned carbs (?!?) stick out either side - surprised we don't see more of them in fairness

u did a great job there, same it was all undone, but at least the legend will live on Mad thing is that my mate who pushed and encouraged me to hit it with the angle grinder to start cutting it..... he was the same guy who as a challenge to himself undid it, saying that, he has kept all the parts I handmade, and has a 450cc BMW with spoke wheels that he will be adding the bits to, so it will rise again, as a 450 lazy cruizer.

great job! would be interested in how you modified the back end to sit it like that, was it just a case of cutting ;/reattaching or did you need a right old fiddle with suspension etc too? nice

HTH.
