CA18DET can be a bit fragile so I hear,.. I'm sure the proper Datsun guys can tell you more.
Didn't know they were RWD?

yup rwd suck really badly though hahaha
Ca18det is curse word if it hasnt been cared for really sensitive to good oil maintenance/quality
CA will last if its been looked after but if you don't know that if its been cared for very carefully don't expect it too last long expecially if you like revs.
i hate them they are not good imo of course

Yep, RWD...it harks back to the RWD Bluebird (910), which looks like the later Bluebird but had a 'proper' Engine/axle layout! RWD ^ FWD ^

Ratdat has a Silvia S12. He details his progress on it here... www.zxoc.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=605I remember when I was about six or seven and my Dad told me to look out the window on morning, over the road was a dentist's car park with an orange Spitfire 1500, a white S12 Silvia and a red Ferrari 328 GTO, I can still picture it now.

I was looking for one a few months ago but the prices had already started to rise. All the cheap ones I looked at were pretty terrible. You can get decent S13`s for the same money. Mad power delivery and wallowy handling but they will do 150 ;D ;D

these came with 2 engine types one a FJ20E non turbo (here in uk anyway) and the CA18ET single cam the Fj is a musch better engine yes i'm bias ;D the CA18ET is a weak engine but only seams to give any realy trouble in a lighter car maybe it's because it can rev higher not sure why, But kept in the silvia it seams to cope well

don't know about the s12 but the s13 used to be group 17. But despite the high group it was really cheap. It actually cost me more to insure my 405 TD (the car I replaced my S13 with : than to insure the 200sx

www.driftworks.co.uk ratdat is often on there, he has a s13 200sx got the ca18det death rattle, and his radiator split on sunday at driftuk round 2 just before the qualifying session, he also kissed the wall with it, hes pretty good, expect when he feels hes really good he'll use the 510

If you want an S12, you want the RS-X
FJ20DET, HUGE BRAKES, Big power, RWD, HUGE fun, and immensely badass. AE86's are becoming ludicrously over-priced, the S12 is a fine and dandy option.
If you can fit a C18ET, it can fit a CA18DET, you can get more than adequate doses of power from CA's, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
