This car is not only the first car i ever owned but also the first car i ever went in.
It used to belong to my father who bought it just before i was born and brought me home from the hospital when i was born in it.
He later restored it when i was 5 and signed it over to me.
He continued to use it on and off until 1995 when it went into the garage with a few mechanical issues.
Well the other day i thought its about time i did uit justice and dragged it out of the garage and took it up to my place.
Heres how it looked just after i got it up there
The next day i had a slow day so i decided to get the polish out and see what fun awaited me below the 13 years of dirt
To my surprise and major relief most of the bodywork had held up. A few bubbles here and there and a small hole behind the front bumper. Not to shabby me thinks.
The next day i took it off the trailer and had a go at getting it started. Usual dead SU fuel pump and dity points to begin with.
Did those, stuck some fresh juice in, some oil down the bores and free'ed off the floats.
Turned the key, pushed the button and..... wizz bang and a thud.
It started, back fired and the exhaust fell off!
Flexi joints completely given up combined with a set of dead rubber hangers.
So, anyone got a full system for a MK2? ;D
