my first post on here so thought I would put some pics of my new car up. after selling my 2 dr mk2 escort I said I wasnt going to bother with old fords for a bit then 2 weeks later I bought a 2.8 capri! wasnt my cup of tea so sold it and last week found this local to me. its a 1.6 ghia which is standard except for some lowering blocks and some rs (or lazer) alloys. bodywork is mint and I don't think it has ever been welded! its still got original strut tops and they look mint to. I havent got it looking the way I want it yet but as of tommorrow it will be 2 inchs lower allround. then need to save up for sum 7x13 superlights and should look cool. also going to put a mexico spoiler on the front and a rs one on the back and may paint all the chrome black but havent decided yet. hoping to have it looking good for the ford meet at scotch corner on the 30th of this month. the spot lights are now off and have some home made quarter bumpers on. anyone got a mex spoiler and rs boot spoiler going cheap?

Welcome aboard!
If it were mine I'd be keeping the chrome on and making a real feature of it's Ghia specification. Keep the badges, get another bumper on the front (chrome, of course!), leave the interior stock and make sure whatever wheels you put on are nice and shiny!
Resto-Cal MKII Ghia FTW!

IMO the Chrome should be a big feature of this car.

yeah, black and chrome is a sick combo, don't let it die into another RS wannabe.
having said that, i've got a boot spoiler on mine i'm getting rid of. don't want much for it. but i definatly think a mex front spoiler is a no no.
looking good.

That's nice, but it's a bit of a shame when it's so original to start modding it imo.

car is 2 inchs lower now and looks cool. might paint the middle bits of the wheels black like what the rs2000s are over the weekend.

I was gonna tell you how lucky you are to have found such a loved example, but if you've recently had a 2dr, you'l know the pitfalls of RWD escorts. It looks beautiful mate, but then they were a pretty classy cars when new. And i'll hav to go with the majority, less is most definitly more D
