@siert- great ain't it! I didn't know they held any stock of old style screens, mine was made for autoglass, ordered the end of one month, delivered the end of the next month. being laminate too is nice, so no face full of glass when it gets chipped @ss- you maybe right but I wanted something one colour again dom- thats a damn good idea! I set fire to it for the moment, wasn't spectacular- I don't think the petrol had much life in it so I spiced it with some thinner ;D I'll get a pic or two up later. @waveman- if you rig a collumn mount up, you could drive it round like this- its full chassised! sootyridesagain- never heard of the buy back program. the noise is great, but the fan roars away and gets on my tits! leccy fan is one future upgrade for sure. yes you should have brought it, they're great in a cheesy, tacky, might fall apart in front of you way ;D

Now I know what one of those looks like, I didn't have a clue when I spoke to you last.
Random thought, I think it would look good on some 8x14 or 15 banded steels ;D

I think you need to help me to convince my dad to buy the T5 I'm nearly as bad as you now with the amount of cars I have. That's one way of cleaning the exhaust out

avacado! ;D anyway, you remember i "did" the timing? well it did run right; flat all over and eratic tickover. so I put a timing strobe on it and dialled in the advance. way out! should be 22 degrees, it registered 25.8 btdc- yikes! so I found that you can ease the base plate round with it running as all the points are timed to the each other now, they just needed moving round a bit and then it was running bad again! so I strobed it and it was out again only it was my fault, I left the screws on the base plate loose not bad eh? battery charges well don't it there it is in motion, you can't run a four stroker like that and I put my seatbelt in tonight, which needed a support to get the stalk high enough. this is now braced for extra security the only wartburg to have bmw e30 seatbelts? also I found the rear compensator for the brakes was stuck and its why the rear brakes locked the minute you touch the brake pedal. clamped the line and it stopped OK with no back brakes. this is the rear brake compensator. its jammed on full so provides maximum pressure to the rear brakes. wonderful. normally lives here, and is worked off the roll bar. the more wieght you carry, the more rear brakes it gives you. I took it to pieces eurgh! gave it a quick hone the spring works against the rubber wave thingy (rubber bit, midle of pic) and increases tension and allows more fluid to pass (I think). only the spring floats over the top of the pepper mill shaped piece, something wrong here.... put a stop in, and found after all this- the fecking thing still don't work right that sunday was wasted chatting to mymate dan-the-masetari-man, (also a big beemer perv) he said I could have this for nowt. this lot hit the bin and there it is in situ. only the rears were still locking to soon I was being a d1ck the front inside caliper pistons done this when I tried to push them back. a little seized perhaps? after a while me and me dad got them free. then..... .... we looked at the anti rattle springs and scratched our heads. why? well take a look at this- there. held in place by the lugs that go on the outside of the brake pad ears, the rattle bits actually fit on the inside of the pad ears, making it very hard work to make the pads bite at all! don't need them then! and the brakes work perfect now. it needs a pair of wiper blades for MOT and an O/S track rod end, but that will have to be in the new year as I don't want it going walkies in the germany>england post over the christmas period. so I brought it home for a while ;D thats it for the moment

I can remember not so long ago when people used to get shot trying that not too far from me down the road! ;D stupidly I thought nothing of that when I clambered into the boot, I was demonstrating its capacious load area but you're right, terrible times but not that long ago either.

Don´t worry about it mate. One of my shift managers in my warehouse did time in the GDR for trying just that...the good old days weren´t good all the time eh? ;D

Dave- Its odd thinking of the old east and west germany. I know an old boy who does translating and he got told off for straying into the DDR several times. used to get pulled up by a wartburg polizei mobile ;D

well goh-oh-ly! how buried was this? anyway, about time I put something up about the car. well it is on the road it took a long time to get my dating certificate through from the IFA club to get a reg-o on it, but its worth waiting for as the DVLA don't need to see it so here it is on the road- been up to loads on it, it does need constant attention at the minute... I polished the front bumper which was covered in sticky residue. I think it was a new bumper put on but the protective wrapping was just pulled off and not polished after, so it took a few hours of wire wool to get it clean! before and after in shot good enough to see yer face in it ;D quarter bumpers anyone? headlamps bezels didn't escape either. nice and shiny now quick dob of paint on the badge too. gotwood came through with these PCD adapeters, turning it from 4x160 to 4x100 with vw centre bore. he's really good with a mill I was going to fit these et38 6J 13" allycats on the car, but they have too much offset (can't beleive I said that ) and they are just too small. something different on the cards people have asked about the oiling before, so this is what I do. I have a plastic jug I use to pur the oil into. I use a calculator to assertain how much oil is required. the car runs 40:1 mix which is one part oil for every 40 parts petrol. in this pic the calculator shows 450ml as I put in 18litres of fuel. cool colour huh? as can be seen I'm using elf 2hp eco, which is synthetic smokeless oil. the oil must be mixed into the petrol tank, so what I do it pour it into a jerry can (I've been running from them rather than the forecourt pumps) and then pour some of that jerry can back into the measure to rinse all the oil out. turns a cool colour- and then puor the lot into the tank. had a delivery from czech republic it is... wait for it.... fully mappable electronic ignition! from www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm awesome company so what do you get for 149 euros? the unit itself, plug, back plate, sensor and cutter plus software, not bad at all. you just pick an rpm point (any rpm point) and pick an advance number. job done. well it will be when I get round to putting it on to the car (minor fiddling required).... here's the software from a screengrab- also got a downloaded expansion pipe calculator too called pipe.dsn. its available from the MOTA site; MOTA engine builder is lots of $AUD, but this is freeware! when I pull the manifold, I can measure the ports and punch some numbers in to get a pipe brewing other than driving it, thats almost it. as today the rear brake wheel cylinders have leaked all the fluid out and soaked the shoes. and the water pump has sprung a nasty leak too. grrrr! I did say almost
