Are girls allowed on this forum?? Hey you lot I'm Tink, significant other of gray. He has got me hopelessly addicted to this forum so I thought id add it to the list of vehicle forums I use. I own a 1962 series 2a Land rover and a VW polo & between the 2 of us we have far too many cars than I care to remember. ;D Anyways here is a pic of my absolute beloved old Tatty.

That's a cool Land Rover, the colour combination and matching wheels suits it.

Welcome. Very nice. These Series Landies look so much better with some proper rubber in the arches.

That is indeed a lovely old tub......I'm intrigued though , what are the hubs on the back?? Maybe a trick of the camera but they don't look stock. Agree with DW though, you can't beat an S2A with some great big SAT's on. I'm gonna shut up now, as every time I see one I want another!

The hubs are standard i think She has had a full chassis up rebuild about 5 years ago now, with galvanised chassis, got an early 90 2.25 petrol engine under the bonnet but i am no rivet counter so as long as she tootles along I'm pretty flexable as to mods etc. Unfortunaltely she is off the road because of brakes........AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Land rover brakes!!!!!!!!!!! We have tried everything, new cylinders, master cylinders,no leaks in the brake pipes, bled them, bled them again, gravity bled them... bled them some more. i have tried everything, they last 2 days max then the pedal hits the metal again...any ideas folks? It is soul destroying. Thats why i have the little N reg Polo at the moment, funnily enough i am quite liking the luxury of being able to hear myself think, electric windows and a heater that heats!!!!! I think i must be turning soft! Any ideas on the brakes welcome and grateful ;D

I can ask my uncle - he's work on Landrovers all his life and owned one up until very recently. I'll see if he has any ideas.

had a similar problem on my daily ,1964 109'' the peg on my new brake shoes that sits on the adjuster wasnt long enough & the shoe kept slipping off the adjuster inside the drum causing 1 slave cylinder to be almost pushing the pistons out & the pedal going to the floor. cured it by building the peg on the shoes up with weld. adjuster pegs on the new shoes were almost 1/4'' shorter than the old 1's. good luck with it

The brakes on this one are a serious mystery, the problem showed up first the night before its mot last year when giving it the final once over we spotted the brake lights werent working, simple enough, a dodgy switch but noooooo, it was never gonna be that simple. The switch is inline on the brake pipe and is pressure activated, have you ever tried to find one of them at 10.30 the night before an MOT? I scoured all the old and abandoned landies i knew of but they were all series 3 which never used the pressure switch so we cancelled the mot, and ordered a new one, couple of days later, fitted that, bled the brakes and..... nothing!
Since then we have replaced all wheel cylinders and the master cylinder, all the rubber pipes and inspected repeatedly the whole system, weve tried every trick known to man for bleeding them but still with the results of after a couple of days they fade away again. Ive owned, rebuilt and worked on alot of landrovers but have never met anything thats had me at a complete loss before....
Maybe i need a bigger hammer (landrover special tool number 1)
