So here it is - SWMBO new daily. Well it will be once I've done a few small jobs. It's a '96 B4 Volkswagen Passat L 1.8 'wagon in a fetching shade of green. So, here it is as purchased a few days ago: And here it is now, after I hit it with the stick to the tune of two coils at the front, two coils on the offside rear (they're wound tighter, so less of a drop), and half a coil on the nearside rear, as it had snapped anyway Also, note the nice shiny set of Moondiscs - I decided against alloys. Excuse the shonky pics - it was getting dark. Just right, I reckon. It's down around 70mm at the front, and 50mm at the back. There's a few things I still need to fix before it's pressed in to service, and then I think it's gonna go down the 'woodie' route... Dale

Nice,, now you just need a couple of '76 stickers on the front wings just ahead of the mirrors, and maybe a few other "sponsor" decals to have a sleeper look salt flats hauler look.

How did I miss that thread ? You're not going all woodride on yours as well are you? I banged the discs on just before I took the photos. They normally fit fine (got them on my truck too in 15" flavour, and had snap-on Fiesta Kaps on the Victor and they never came off). I might need to adjust the grippers on a couple of them though as they don't quite sit right. Dale

Fablon. What would the world be like without that stuff? If anyone else fancies Woodying up a modern estate car, I have a 98 Primera 1600 Estate in lovely order for £995

Well she thought it would look pants, but now she's seen it she really likes it. It doesn't show up too well in the pics, but that's birch Fablon. As it's now a 'surf wagon', I thought I'd take some pics by the beach, but we haven't got a beach in Milton Keynes, so I settled for a couple of tons of sharp sand instead... Still a few jobs left to do before it's pressed into service though - change the drivers seatbelt, investigate the wobbly column, investigate the dodgy fuel gauge (did I mention I hate auto-electrics ?), etc...

I think if you did the roof as well it would rock harder. Might look better in the flesh but the woody bits are a bit too light for me.

i too vote for the roof to be done, would really bring it all together imo
id be tempted to extend the wood to come below the bump strips too, seems a bit narrow to me
hope i don't sound negative as i do really like this car

Cheers guys Hadn't even considered covering the roof! I reckon that'd look a bit odd though... I purposely went for a light coloured 'wood' as the body is darker in the flesh than it looks in these photos. It's not the best job in the world - the cuts around the arches could be neater, for example, but the body is covered in scratches, etc, anyway, so it's an acceptable look. I toyed with removing the rubbing strips, but it's got to remain as a practical daily, so they had to stay. It's certainly getting attention round here anyway - sat in traffic at a roundabout on the way to work today, and the guy next to me in a Civic Type R couldn't take his eyes off it. Until he ran straight into the back of the Vectra in front of him Dale

Nice job. Good reliable daily nail too... Most of the 'wood' jobs I've seen have a 1/4 inch black or chrome edging strip around the wood edge. Finishes it off nicely and of course covers those not-quite-right corners and curves...
