Can't believe I haven't started a thread on this - probably because I've done sod all with it since dragging it home!
The fun began last year when someone flagged up a free Dyane that was going begging. Being of a rather weak nature at the time, I agreed to have it.
It was towed home by a neutered Volvo and shoved in the garage. Where nothing really happened until today!
That's not entirely true, a friend at a Citroen dealer kindly sorted me out with a set of keys as the originals (and paperwork) were not with the car. It had been effectively abandoned in a lock-up garage - the new owners of the house didn't mind much but when they came to sell the property, they wanted it shifting. The previous owner said he was going to collect it but didn't. Needless to say, I'll be applying for the logbook before this plan gets much further!
The Renault left home today which at least freed up some space in the garage. I started by taking photos.
Then, decided that I just might have the energy to strip the thing out (doesn't take long with these!) and have a proper look-see.
Starting at the front, the windscreen panel is certain to need replacing. Not even gaffer tape can save this!
The floors/lower bulkhead don't look very healthy either.
The floors are if anything even worse at the back
I'm not sure you're meant to be able to see the tyre...
Previous bodgery. There was one on the RH side but it fell off when I poked it!
Further back, it's crumbly in places but generally more solid.
The chassis is pretty ropey at the back but otherwise, doesn't look to bad. That said, I might go galvo just so I know it won't need a chassis at some point! Plan now is to start working out how much this is all going to cost and get a V5C before work commences. Don't want the old owner to suddenly decide that he wants it after it's been finished! Incidentally, he'd left it in the lockup for at least 15 years. There were boxed with newspaper in from 1991...
