Got me stumped....aside from it being Damask Red on a T plate. I think they stopped offering Damask Red in about 1974?
Has it got power steering??

yes and no, yes the colour is wrong and no to the powered steering come on lads there is someting not quite right on this maxi

I knew it was something to do with that gubbins near the rad as I couldnt remember l that from years ago leaning over the bonnet of my old mans one years ago when I was a kid , looks like someone was suckered into believing an inline cartridge with carbon in it would help with the fuel change over .
the rest of the pipework look like the emmision control on some canadian n12 cherrys !?

ok ok it runs on a bottle of this  not sure how legal this is, but the old guy who owed this ran this setup for 20 years without problems, now the bottle is not secured so this is the first thing to sort out, i do know that a bottle like the one above is 12 pounds and is aprox 6 gallon which is about 2 pound a gallon and it works and pulls as well as most other maxis i have had in the past |

A MAXI ON RETRO RIDES!!!!!! YIPPPIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The little canister going over the cam cover looks like one of those carbon pellet things, which in my book, are poo, because A) they don't seem to work, and B) Maxis don't actualy need them because the grade of metal used in the heads is aparently very close to the grade used in unleaded conversions. ie, not much in the way of valve seat resession will occur. Now, the black thing in the corner has me baffled. My Maxi had an auxilery servo there making the the brakes super-good, and that yello hose could be a vacuum hose, but I also recon I'm wrong, which leaves me with no idea at all. It looks like its been there for some time so I don't think its a gas conversion.... Scrap that, it must be some sort of dual fuel thing because it appears to have 2 fuel lines. Why do I recognise that number plate??? #Goes digging through the entire back catalogue of 'Maximize' to see if its in there. Somewhere.....# Oh yeah, if you need any spares  |

when i was taxi driving there was a guy who used to fill his lpg tank at the local gas bottle place he modified his car you couldnt fill with a nozzle at a normal pump if you tried ! interesting that an old boy was messing about getting his maxi to run on gas twenty years ago !! you so should have put this in the main general thread ive often felt over the last few months this forums missing out on some maxi action

you so should have put this in the main general thread ive often felt over the last few months this forums missing out on some maxi action I'LL SECOND THAT!! If only i still had the Barge  These cars are a major part of my childhood, and they're sooooooo under rated. I don't care if that classed as a biasd view, its my view and I'm sticking by it  |
