Yet another of my toys. This is my everyday transport (that's 300 miles a week for work alone) and never fails to return 60mpg with only routine maintenance needed.

Ooh, I wish I still had my 1.9 TXD, best handling car I ever owned.

Should be a 1.7 I think - TD. Do like these.
And they are economical. My BX 16v could do well over 30mpg if I was gentle with it (which I wasn't - it just isn't that sort of a car!)

I had one of these, the older one with the orange indicators and ultra-slow 1.7D non turbo. I opened the tailgate on a windy day and the roof peeled off about 18" foward above the doors. It's just stuck down with glue. Two of us had to stand up in the boot, catch the tailgate and pull down to latch it. Then got it welded. Lots of bad things happened like brakes locking on, suspension problems, broken seats, bits falling off the dashboard, blown cyl head gasket. Apart from that, it was fine. Revolving drum speedo was cool too. Don't think this later model had that? They did handle well and great over speed humps. Good luck with it. Al

Quick update-had to spend £102.04p on her the other week (£2.04p more than I paid for her!) for cambelt, idler and tensioner, water pump, coolant, camshaft oil seal, oil and filter. Still providing trouble free motoring and great economy with a deffo retro feel.

We (my family) had two of these. The latter clocked 465,000kms. Oil seal failed so for about 18months we used to it up with cheapo oil each week. Undersealed the car really nicely!!
Otherwise a very comfortable car - my dad just couldn't get rid of it even once they had it's brand new replacement and the one after that!
