Just joined on here and I have to say there are some wicked rides! I'm after something more old skool cool as my next project car so I rekon this would be the best place to get some know how, but anyway here's my daily car
First bought the car and saved it from the scrap heap for £100, as we dug into the car we found it was way too good for the scrap heap so i'm happy I saved another one from being crushed.
Needed a new wing as the other was crushed, sun roof was rusted and engine bay was a bit worse for wear
Didn't take too long for me and my mates to rip it apart
While the engine bay was prepped and painted outside I also stripped the engine down somewhat and replaced the clutch, cleaned it and painted it, while also having new brake lines fitted front to back
Eventually got it plumbed in and everything working, next task was to slam it with the coilies I bought
She was sent off to a local paint shop for a new lick of paint
Then I started putting it all back together
At this stage I couldn't afford or could I find a nice set of alloys so I cleaned and painted the steelies black, then found some smoked indicators
After passing the MOT and being on the road for about 4 days and one break down, I had a major break down in where my alternator completly messed up on me and aknocking noise was heard. At this point were well into winter and I can't work in the garage so all this was done on the drive.
Took off the sump and replaced the bottom end bearings but it didnt solve the problem. I was due for an operation so I couldn't work on the car, it was sent off to a friend down the road who split the gearbox from the engine and found the flywheel had came loose. Tightened that and she's been fine.
Saturday just gone I went to the club polo rolling road day with a few mates. Had my car on the rollers, I got 113 BHP at the flywheel and 90 BHP at the wheels so i'm happy. Just trying to find some nice deep wheels to finish it off now
In the grand scheme of things I built this car on a budget and it's been my first car to do like this and in total spent around £1600 on everything including buying the car.
Comments are welcome ;D
