I'm new on here and thought i would share my projects with you all. Ive been into retro cars for 13 years now (I'm 26) my first being a 1971 beetle i then had a string of classic fords in the shape of two 105e's a 61&67, two Mk1 escorts a 73&74, Mk2 escort and a Mk2 cortina 1600e that was it for the fords i was then given a 71 mini which i promptly dropped a metro turbo engine in i sold that to finish restoring the 71 bug which i later sold (worst thing i ever did). So about a mini, vw sand rail, two beetles, type 2 bay,and two scirocco's later think were about up to now although i think i many have missed a few? So this what i have today. 82 gl scirocco 72 beetle(longterm resto) 64 split screen panel van and the 70 1302's/wrx

So the plan. i decided to build a subaru turbo beetle, because for what it would cost me to extract 300bhp from a typ 1 vw engine i could buy a subaru engine uprate it buy an adaptor fit and still have change to buy porsche brakes and gearbox so i went with the scooby idea. Will get you up to date as ive been working on this for quite some time. I started with this a welded shell then i cut it up and began mounting the rear arms from a 944 this is a spare engine i have mounted to the porsche 915 gearbox then removed to body and mocked up an engine cradle made a front mount cut the chassis to enable me to raise the engine and box and also move it forward cut the body to fit dropped te body on and thats where were at at the mo more updates soon.

Got started on the steering rack yesterday as the car originally had a steering box i sourced a rack from a later 1303 model it did involve some cutting tho from this (underside of spare wheel well) to this to this and then more cutting and then finally it fit now Ive just got to plate the chassis back in All your comments are really appreciated. Cant wait to see that 1302 cab with some subaru turbo power out back. ;D

That's brilliant! Excellent choice of engine there, the GC8 is a fantastic lump and easy to extract more horses from. Can't wait to see this thing finished, it'll certainly shock a few people!

I've always loved the idea of this, taking Beetles back from the Hippies ;D
Scirocco looks lovely too, the double headlight grill makes them look tough. Nice colour too, what is it?

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.
