Now the owner of a luuuurvely red 1850 dolly (paperwork pending). Thanks to russell and his bro for the help getting the thing on the trailer. It's the first 3 wheel dolomite in the UK i believe, which made the trailer bit interesting. Took about two hours, in the curse word rain (think i've got man-hypo-flu-thermia).
Anyhoo plan is to get it on four wheels and running then get it down the bodyshop and see what welding needs to be done. Looks fairly solid for now, but will see what some sunlight and a strip down will uncover. Oh and it's now sans bonnet - that got lost somewhere between russell's place and hatfield tescos. Hope no one gets hurt with it - hopefully it just blew onto the hard shoulder or summat.
Pics in the morning.
I'm off to colapse in bed.

Good work! I've got a lovely solid 1500 that the 1850 running gear would slot nicely into if you fancy it Haha!

i really, really hope someone driving along in the morning will recognise that bonnet. they'll say, 'wow, my brother in law has a triumph'. he'll coincidentally have picked the L200 that day and pick it up, take it home later and give it to the brother in law. who will then cry out 'wow! i've needed one of thses for like ages" and then proceed to fit the last remaining missing panel on his 8,000 mile ground-up-rebuild sprint and win the concours at the next show in the summer. if i had time i'd make up a story about that bonnet going missing but i'm tired night.

Well spent the day on the car. However majority of that day was spent parts chasing and stocking up on bloody unf bolts. The car is just being a PITA in all respects - so is still on three wheels, but with top and bottom balljoints fitted and the hub loosely done. Going into the workshop next week to get all the brakes sorted. Then see what it needs for some mot action.
Still no pics - but that's a good thing as it means i've just been busy.
Oh and got another bonnet sprayed up black - will do the boot next week as well - as that's all cracking off.

Couple o quick pics. Got the tca changed over, top and bottom balljoints on along with hub, sorted the rear drums, got the callipers rebuilt and fitted, and i'm still a million miles from getting the fugger mot'able. Gotta bypass the auto-gear-start-in-gear thingamabob as it's fooked and it won't even turn over. Soooo much stuff left to do. Will ponder a manual swap later on down the line and possibly a sprint conversion.

Good to hear of some progress on Project plastikote! Gotta bypass the auto-gear-start-in-gear thingamabob as it's fooked and it won't even turn over. A mate lost a close friend who was killed in his garage by his car because of a bypassed lock-out switch.....

Tigran, as far as I'm aware - it's only a couple of wires going in and out - a simple connecting of two of 'em does the trick......... Nice to see this getting the business. I'd hate to think what mine looks like now

Tig, the loom connector you're looking for is usually hovering between the column and the transmission tunnel - a paperclip will bypass it. I think the Gaynes shows the appropriate pins you need to cross. It's usually just pulled out of the box or the clips however, so doesn't take much to get sorted and is well worth having

Well spent a bit of yesterday down the shed fiddling with it. Did a couple of little jobs but the main one was to get it to start. Spending a while shorting the inhibitor switch - that took about an hour because no matter what combination i tried it wouldn't crank. Then i looked at the starter and realised why - it wasn't plugged in properly - D'oh!
After plugging it in and reconnecting the inhibitor switch it still wouldn't fire - so shorted the switch again and it ranked like a good un, with some fresh petrol and consistent cranking it even ran, sweet as a nut. Well, sweet as a nut on the two cylinders it was firing on. Will investigate further when i can be assed. Next on the list of stuff to do is strip the merc engine down.
