Like Mickey says, every car has a shelf life. I liked the bx, and from the front it looks great. but it just felt tired suspension wise, and the brakes were on the point of lethal. I'm doing this for me, and my enjoyment. No one elses! Trust me, if i could of saved the bx, i would of done.
Chris.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to suggest a public burning of 205s while I find an assassin's directory, just a little sad is all - much the same feeling as when I see Retros in the scrapper.
Don't believe that cars are only cars though. Elly the Dolly would be distraught to hear of such things! (oops, forgot to take my reality pill!)

I thought bx's handled really well? Ha ha ha try putting out round a track! A well setup 205 will ALWAYS be quicker than a BX be it on the straight or the twisties, regardless of what you do to the BX (bar swapping for springs) unfortunately the BX suspension is geared for giving a GOOD ride and not really setup for giving a stiff or controllable ride. No mater the sphere pressure it will always have boat like handling (i don't mean barge i mean it likes to wollow from side to side) and its something you really have to get used to. That said i can redily outperform pugs and elise alike as its possible to wind up the suspension when going into a corner so that it stiffens one side and softens the other to get you round the corner. You have to do it to understand! I love tracking (and soloing and sprinting) the BX, but it's certainly an aquired taste! I love how light the car is, and how resatile it is (you can't tow a trailer with 16 boats on it, then put another six on the roof, and four people in the car, and 4 lots of paddling kit and drive to and from the lakes in comfort in a 205 Lies all lies, the more that vanish the vaster mine appreciates in value! There may only be around 100 left in the UK, and might not have the fun or popularity of the 205, but i've got one its great and i'm non too worried about the rest of them

Ah OK. TBH went up against a few Mi16'd 205's in my old Clio on track and never had a problem destroying them. They don't seem as quick as 160+bhp should make them.

I just didnt see the point in spending shed loads of cash on getting the bx back to its former glory. Would of needed a good re-spray,tyres and brakes. No point spending 2k on the bx, when with that money i can make a fappin' quick 205. Updates to follow.

as people are saying, at the end of the day you own the car and can do whatever you please with it.
Bx's are good in their own right but this particular 205 looks in excellent condition and dropping the lump in will only make it better wheras the Bx would need (I'm assuming) a fair bit of cosmetic work to look anywhere near as good as the 205 already does

Of course I should point out Vanny and I are BXP members ( although Vanny is with BXC as well ) who have a whole different outlook on life in general to SOME of our BXC brothers , you may get a very different reaction from them

Well being a BXC member (albeit not long term) I suppose I'd best pipe up. In all honesty I did cringe when I saw the first post but on reading through and seeing the condition of your 205 (in the pictures at least) I can honestly say thats fair enough. I think the engine was probably better off in the 205.
What annoy's me (an you will probably find the rest of BXC members) is when decent 16v's are butchered for their engines to be put in Peugeot's that are in no better, if not worse, condition than the BX it came from, that is just sacrilege.
Well done though as it looks like very nice 205 there.
