Well, after a short trip to drop off a cylinder head behind a local Citroen specialist, ended up driving off in a bx 16v, like you do. Spent last Saturday removing the engine, gearbox and wiring. Ended up with this in the workshop.... And a Bx looking like this..... Everything is going into this, which is being treated to: new rubber, Group N engine mounts, bronze gearchange bushes, alloy radiator, Group A bronze gearchange bushes, Qep manifold re-angle plate. I might re-furb the wheels in o.e spec silver, and raise the ride height slightly to make it look all original. The exhaust that is on it in the pic, despite its standard looks is a stainless copy of the original and best Peugoet Sport system. Then i'm going to slay some much bigger machinery. More updates to follow. Chris.

Knew id get mixed comments! As much as it annoyed me gutting the bx, it needed new brakes f+r, the bumpers are cracked, and its generally quite tired. my old engine could go in the bx, but its really not worth it. This conversion is something ive always wanted to do, and hey, its my car! I'm not cutting corners with this, its being done right first time.
Phil, what does your 16v perform like? mine will be standard internally, just induction and exhaust. Id imagine its still pretty fruity!

I thought bx's handled really well? I know I had a go in a later xsara vts and that handled better than the 306 gti-6 that used the same engine.

The Mi16 is mega, let it sing and you are away, not got any decent photo's here now, but she's just on standard injection at the moment with a filter and exhaust, RR'd about 165 bhp, a cage and seats, really good fun and used mostly on trackdays now with the occasional run out in the summer Here's they are together ! Best bit is the LSD, it's a Quaife ATB and the single best thing that's ever been put on the car in terms of performance. Interior Seat runners let in to the tunnel to get the chairs nice and low and these should be finished for the summer if pull my finger out, GSXR throttle bodies with an Emerald ECU, then she should be about 200 bhp with any luck

Is that the standard manifold cut down, and tb's fitted to it? I was cleaning my inlet manifold today and pondered over this......

Fair enough I guess How much better is the BX engine? power n characteristics? I drove one I nearly bought but it was a wee bit tired or summat I think, whatever I wasn't over impressed. what did the BX club lot make of it? and have you found a buyer yet, I know those guys are very keen to keep em on the road, so even for spares you should get a buyer easy enough.

Yep, after much pondering it was deemed the best route, I'm keeping the standars Mi injectors in the standard location, and blanking off the injector holes in the 'bodies. Then I'm putting another set of injectors in the trumpets. you then map the ECU up to about 3.5k rpm on the standard injectors and above that, split the duty cycle between both sets, you only put in as much fuel as you would with one set but as its a way up the inlet tract it atomises the fuel better for a better burn and therefore more power. Will try and post a mag article I've got about it tonight. Good luck with the swap mate.

the BX boys think AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH stone the heretic , hang draw and quarter the infidel , drag his entrails through the streets behind the godly power that is a CITROEN BX GTi 16 VALVE,
Oh I feel so much better now I've got that out !!!!
end of the day all cars have a shelf life and when they are passed there best its better they live on in one form or another rather than just be commissioned to the bone yard.
Its when the near perfect ones get ripped apart it hurts as there are relatively so few left
If you pay for a car its up to you what you do with it ,
I like the BX coz not many chavy oiks in there burberry clad saxos, corsas and clios know what the hell it is ( most of them were just starting to suck on there mums boob when the last BX was built )
so when you totally own them on the road its sooooooooooooo much more fun because they are not expecting it ,
the DXC 160 bhp non cat models like mine have been known to hit over 140 mph in standard trim

Seems a shame that the BX has to die, but it's your car and you can do what you like. How many Rovers have died in the name of hot rodding and how many Fiat 131s lost their hearts in a bid to make Moggy Minors faster. They're only cars.
