Spotted an ad for this on a forum and it was pretty close to me, for the grand fee of £50 with no MOT/tax. She's a 1986 VW Polo Classic , 1.3 with 89k on the clock and loads of history.
Thought I'll have that even if I just use it for donor bits for my mk1 Polo (this is a mk2) got it back and it was in surprisignly good condition. Few little bits of rust, mainly a bit under the arch trim but the floors and everything else is really good. Thought I'll put it through the MOT and see what's wrong. Totally expected it to fail as I was told the dampers were shot when I bought it. Went to pick it up and it had passed with only 1 minor for a chip in the screen, result!
So got it taxed and thought I'd use it daily as my little brother had passed his test and could use my old Seat Ibiza. Instantly fell in love with its old school charm and lack of computers (Ibiza was an 03 plate) Gave it a good clean and got the heat gun and back to black on all the trim.
Put one of the sets of P-Slots I had on it, then got some 185/50 A539s and picked up a s/h suspension kit. 60mm springs with lowering caps on front, rear shocks are adjustable and at their highest setting as I wasn't too keen on the back arch lower over the wheel than the front. Plus I still want to be able to fill up the massive boot!
Photo above is a bit oversaturated Colour is more like the pics below.
I moved up to Edinburgh to Uni in September (from near Sheffield) and she takes in the drive regularly with no complaints at all.
Need to sort a few things, new rear shocks and bumpstops, refurb p-slots and could really do with a new carb, but for now she serves me well ;D
