thats a brilliant update Grizz, I'm also pleased that I now know your reason for the Sinclair fascination too, there I was and have been thinking it could have had something to do with a family connection (namesake etc) or it was a familiar sight in ZA of days gone by? good to see the progress and the films of the running item too! I bet the MOT guy was perplexed it was actually a Ford and definately NOT a VW too? Thanks Martin, Yep, the MOT guy and a few other people, including a "I had a split camper once" type were all very amusing in their observations. It dies feel great having the bus up and running now, and once I have completed the Registration and gotten insurance, I will be even more pleased. Whats the progress on your car ?

Just liked the number on the skateboard as it is the bus's number and my and its birth year ;D Also added this Gecko tonight, got it from Volksworld show, £4.00 well spent, as an ode to my late mum, she had a thing for Geckos. AND would have thought I was bonkers for playing with the bus anyway. ;D Lastly, for tonight, got myself a statement of intent...... (Got one for Oldbus too, but his bus is always for sale at the right money ;D )

Thanks Wayne and Aux, I would love it all to happen via a fat cheque book, but of course this is a HOBBY.... and a test, as I found out tonight. Yep, I really did crash it. But have to take the blame for it. I took the bus back to the MOT station this afternoon, and they passed everything, but failed the handbrake as it now showed 0% on the right , and enough on the left wheel. Brought it back, parked halfway inside the gate, over the incline, so I could whizz in underneath and adjust it without the jack. That done, I got in, started it, and put into reverse to get back to the level tar, to try the handbrake...... this is where the lever from the clutch pedal let go..... and the bus jumped uphill, with a flat pedal on the floor, I stalled it with the brake instantly, then battled to get it back into the yard after putting it into neutral again, anyway, jacked it up and found the circlip that holds the actuator rod to the pedal had come unstuck , and the whole lot collapsed, once I figured out how to slacken the actuator rod to be able to get it in the hole at the pedal, and circlip back on, I thought I would just put her into 1st gear and drive her back to the fence where she lives parked up tightly against the fence so that I can come and go past the rear ....... erm.... this is where the circlip came unstuck again, as |I had not done it the right way and the bus jumped forward into the fence post bending the bumper and bracket, as well as shoving the fence post over by at least 8 inches OOOOOOPPPPS..... I redid it again, this time with circlip the right way, glad it was the fence and not someones new 09 reg BMW convertible at the stopstreet . ;D Back to the MOT station tomorrow to try the handbrake on the rollers again. Keep fingers crossed. Well, who said it was easy.... ?? Note the fence post..... Damage, reasonably easy to repair. Nice thing is these things, as maddening as they are, test us and develop my knowlege of the bus, while I was at it, I replaced some fuel pipes that had hardened as well, near the carburetor. Watch this space ;D

Gutted!! Still, the damage dosen't look bad. An hour with a ball peen, an angle iron and a bit of filler should see that good. At least it doesn't affect the mot though. When I saw the post I though you had smacked it up good and proper! Good luck with it tomorrow mate.

Oh nooo Grizz - bad luck there.
Well, that´s what bumpers are for, and a damaged bumper is way better than a damaged front end :-)
Good luck on the MOT - fingers crossed!

Ah, unfortunate. Still, it does look very, very cool. When's the Sinclair livery being applied?

Ah, unfortunate. Still, it does look very, very cool. When's the Sinclair livery being applied? Hi Matt, Plan is to drive it this season as it, shake out 20 years worth of laid up potential problems, get little things sorted, maybe try get it to 12 Volt as it is a 6 Volt system.... and I am not that clever. I would love to have it in Sinclair colours in 2 years from now, was always the plan to have it liveried within 3 years. In the mean time I am looking for a FREE caravan, 4 berth to 6 berth to gut and transfer the important bits into the bus, so as to get it kinda converted to camper spec. I was offered a free interior about 18 months ago, but it is 200 miles from here..... I have final sneaky plan that may hatch in the season after the paint goes on, and should involve around 150bhp and Germany (not Oldbus Garages , no ) All of these plans are of course subject to change, either "Fast Forward" or "Pause"
